Víogelmir lava cave is the largest of all caves in Iceland and a very special structure. The family in Fljotstunga has protected and taken care of it for 5 generations. Today we offer short and long tours every day during the summer months. With these tours we try to inform guests about the preservation of the cave, its archeological spaces and the Ice Elves that inhabit it during winter.

"The most powerful thermal spring in Europe, producing 200 litres boiling water per second. Only about 1 hour drive north from Reykjavik, easy to visit if driving around the island too (quite easy access from road 1). The place is also easy to find, if you look out for the thermal steam rising from t..."he spring. You can park just next to the spring. There is also a small "tomato-automat" there - a shelf from which you can take a carrot or tomato bag with you, and leave the money in the box. The vegetables are raised with the warm from the spring.
I think this place is worth visiting, even if you´d just rent a car from Reykjavik and drive around for a day or two, because there are nearby a lot to see! Deildartunguhver itself is quickly seen, as the area is quite small.

"It is the birthplace of Snorri Sturluson, and a fascinating place both culturally and historically. There is a church over a small museum, not incredible impressive, but absolutely worth a look. It is possible to take a walk around the church, and see the famous hotspring tub, and some archaeologica..."l remains. It was really windy and cold when I was there, so I recommend bringing warm clothes.
There was a small souvenir shop, but as far as I could see, nowhere to buy food.
