What travellers are saying
- Jo Thomson28 contributionsCorciano is a quaint, beautiful town. The day we visited, they had celebrated a children's pre-Christmas event. The nativity was set up throughout the town with life-sized figures. There were real donkeys. It was a lovely afternoon. We then drove to nearby Passignano sul Trasimeno and watched a beautiful senset.Written 21 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brian FRanders, Denmark504 contributions.. then this is a must see if in the are. In fact the whole city of Corciano is worth the visit. So well kept and extremely clean. The view of nearby landscaping is no less than breathtaking.Written 22 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pregladNew York3,531 contributionsCorciano has lots to offer for sure, but we felt it a little like skiing in a late April rain with Mondays having most small town Umbrian options closed, including some of its premium religious sites and attractions. It's a very smart and attractive town, and I'd return in another more timely visit to explore its attractions more fully.
Having said that, our visit was worthwhile beyond the attractive town itself for the Antiquarium di Corciano. Having been to two larger Etruscan museums elsewhere (most notably Cortona's most impressive one), we were wondering if it might begin to be a bit of overkill.
This proved untrue as Corciano had very interesting displays and historic treasures more than fully worthy of a very inexpensive ticket. For those who have seen little of Etruscan history, art and architecture, it's a great place to start and we recommend it heartily. The chariot, and colorful stonework art were particularly memorable.Written 3 May 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Laura VPerugia, Umbria, Italy3 contributionsWho would have expected to find an ancient archeological dig in the basement of a very mundane looking grocery store? The charm of this site is how different it is from the traditional tourist itinerary. It is a bit tricky to find- there is a tiny tiny little sign along the road, and you have to go into the grocery store and ask. They are very kind and take you around the back of the store and lead you down into the basement. It happened that when they started building the store about 20 years ago, they came across these etruscan graves, so the city and the owner reached a compromise- the graves are available (free!) for viewing by the public, and the grocery store owner was allowed to continue to build his store after the archeologists had gone. A brilliant solution! It is a great thing to visit especially on hot or rainy days.Written 26 November 2011This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
