Come and experience for yourself the only Zip Line Tour in the San Juan Islands in Washington State. Our family friendly zip tour features 8 zip lines that will take you through a beautiful forest, across an otter inhabited lake and over protected wetlands. This tour is an amazing way to experience the natural landscape of San Juan Island while zipping from platform to platform through the forest canopy.Upon reaching the site, you will be given an orientation and then have the opportunity to practice zipping on our smaller practice zip lines. After this, our guides will lead you on a brief hike to the first of the zip lines. Throughout your tour you will soar past tall Douglas Firs, Western Red Cedars, and experience the forest and wetlands from a viewpoint usually exclusive to birds.Tours last approximately 3 hours, which includes travel time to and from the course. The Zip San Juan course is approximately 10 minutes from Friday Harbor. Zip San Juan can provide your transportation to and from Friday Harbor to the zip site.

"Took a great trip out with Captain Carli today. We arranged everything short notice the night before and captain carli was available to take our call and answer all of our questions particularly about bringing our 13 month on board.
As planned we arrived by ferry from Anacortes into Friday Harbor..." and Captain Carli was right there to meet us just a few feet from the ferry dock. Our party of 3.5 were very lucky to have the boat to ourselves and we were just fine with that! We took pity on people we saw crammed into other boats.
Captain Carli had already been in communication with his local whale spotting teams and he knew right were to take us. Straight up to Canada! And sure enough we buzzed straight out of the harbor on course with the information he had.
On the way to our destination we saw bald eagles, sea lions and harbor porpoises then when we arrived at our chosen spot we barely had to scan the horizon before we spotted a magnificent pod of 4 or 5 Orca's. We stayed with t...

"This review is long overdue. Since 2009, we've been whale watching with Capt. Jim Maya several times a year. Maya's Westside Charters is our go-to whale watching service. The combination of Capt. Jim's warm, engaging personality, depth of knowledge, and his fast, twin-hulled boat with the smooth rid..."e, has made our decision easy whenever we return to San Juan Island. The smaller size of his boat (about 6 passengers) also creates a very personal and intimate experience. Getting out on the water with Capt. Jim is always a highlight of our visits. Nobody works harder to make sure you have a great time in one of the most beautiful settings in the world. And we have had some whale and dolphin encounters that are beyond description. We highly recommend whale watching with Capt. Jim and suggest booking ahead because of limited space.

"All of my life I had hoped to see Orcas in their natural habitat, so my husband and me (whilst on our honeymoon) took the opportunity to go whale watching whilst staying in Friday Harbour. It was too early in the season for the resident Orcas to have arrived, so it was always a 50/50 chance that we ..."would see some whales that day. We were lucky and had an ample amount of naturalists coming with us that day, since one of the boats was being serviced. While setting off we spotted the resident harbour seal and on our way out we passed by many other interesting anymals such the wonderful bald eagles. There was soon news of whales being heard over the "hydrophone", but not yet any sightings. Whilst heading in the assumed direction we were given a lot of insight into the life and social behaviour of the Orcas. All the naturalists were happy to answer questions and they were never short of a good story or two about the islands we passed, the wildlife and their owners. What I particularly liked ...
