The Château du Moulin-à-Vent is a 37Ha family wine estate based in Romanèche-Thorins.It is located 10km south from Mâcon and accessible from the A6 highway: exit n°29 from Paris and n°30 from south of France. The Château du Moulin-à-Vent is surrounded with vines 200m behind the historical windmill (moulin à vent in French) and thus in the heights of the moulin-à-vent appellation. The Château has been built in the beginning of the 18th century with a classic south burgundy architecture style. It was often visited in the 1810's by the reknown poet and philosoph Alphonse de Lamartine who fell in love with the daughter of Ms pommier, former owner of the Château. Its vaulted cellar probably dates back in the 17th century and are still used for wine ageing. The Château du Moulin-à-Vent produces wines that are sold on the greatest gastronomic tables (Guy Savoy, Pierre Gagnaire, la Tour d'Argent, le Grand Véfour...) and the wines may be tasted and sold at the estate.
