Open 300 evenings a year, Vienna State Opera is called by many the best in the world. Built in Neo-Renaissance style, the State Opera opened its doors in 1869. The building was hit by a bomb in 1945 and largely destroyed; it reopened in 1955.

The Secession building is an exhibition hall built in 1897 by Joseph Maria Olbrich as an architectural manifesto for the Vienna Secession. The group rebelled against the formality and ostentation of older styles. The building features the Beethoven Frieze by Gustav Klimt, one of the most recognized artworks of Secession style. The motto of the Sece... Moressionist movement is written above the entrance of the pavilion: "To every age its art, to art its freedom." Below the motto you can see a sculpture of three gorgons that represent painting, sculpture and architecture.

One of the most famous places in Vienna, the Belvedere Palace was built by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt as the summer residence for Prince Eugene of Savoy. The Belvedere consists of two palaces: Upper Belvedere and Lower Belvedere linked by the formal garden; Orangery and the Palace Stables.

Upper Belvedere:
The gallery houses a ... Morecollection of 19th- and 20th-century paintings. Most visit for the works of Gustav Klimt ("The Kiss" and "Judith"), but you will also see masterpieces by Schiele and Kokoschka as well as the work of French Impressionism and highlights of the Vienna Biedermeier era (Waldmüller, Amerling, Fendi). Lower Belvedere:

Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) was one of the most prominent composers of the Classical period. Often called the “Father of the Symphony” and “Father of the String Quartet,” he spent his last 12 years in this house. The collection includes copies of compositions that Haydn had framed and hung up in his bedroom, Haydn’s fortepiano, and his clavichord later acquired by Johannes Brahms. The small garden, which was redesigned in cooperation with Vienna City Gardens Department represent an 1800 bourgeois garden.
