1. Parking area for Greenbrier State Park

Parking lot is hidden so look carefully to your left. Less than 100 feet past 8134 Mountain Laurel Road.

Head right here, follow red blazed trail.

In season the visitor's center is open. Restrooms, trail and park maps are available. Full service State Park.

7. The Bartman Trail

.6 mile significant climb to the Appalachian Trail

8. Head south on the Appalachian Trail towards Washington Monument

9. Cross Boonsboro Mountain Road

Begin long ascent to Washington Monument.

On top of South Mountain, Washington Monument was built by Boonesboro villagers in 1827 to celebrate their freedom.
