1. Whittaker Creek Recreation Area

Located at the confluence of Whittaker Creek
and the Siuslaw River, this recreation site offers a wealth of activities including old growth forest hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing, salmon watch, picnicking and camping.

2. Bridge Out in the Winter

There is a bridge here that is missing in the winter months.

This bridge is available year round. The swimming area is near this bridge.

4. Old Growth Trailhead

5. Loop Junction

Trail loops left or right here. We choose to head right.

6. Giant Tree Junction

Turn left here for a VERY SHORT detour to the giant tree.

7. Giant Tree

This tree was recently struck by lightning

8. Ridge Junction

Turn uphill here for the jaunt to the ridge junction. Then come back here to continue around the loop.

9. Short Junction to Viewpoint

You can take the trail right to a viewpoint through the trees.

10. Viewpoint

Look through the trees to the Siuslaw River below.

11. Ridge Summit

You made it to the top! There is a nice wooden bench to sit on (made from the trees on this hill).
