This trailhead begins at about 10.5 miles down Eklutna Lake Trail. The trail will take you through the forest along the East Fork of Eklutna River. The path is littered with a multitude of alpine flora, rocks, and trees. Follow the trail about 4 miles to a small lake. Continue on and hike to Tulchina Falls, at about 5.5 mile. You can keep going on to The Mitre and even further to an adjoining trail that ends in Girdwood near Crow Creek. less «

Tips:  Be aware of bears. There were more than twenty piles of bear scat spotted on the foot path.
If it is rainy or cloudy, bring rain... more » gear and perhaps an extra pair of socks. Tall grass and an overgrown trail make for soggy feet.
Don't forget to look up. The foot path has so many different species of fungus and flowers it's easy to miss the waterfalls and occasional mountain goat in the distance. less «
