Stayed here on a Monday/Tuesday with around 34 others on a golfing mission. We played the Hawkstone course both days with the weather on the second day appalling, wind, hail and rain. A shame, as the course is great fun, a fair test - not particularly long, but picturesque with some great par 3's and the stretch through 10, 11... More

Grotty, dirty, unhelpful staff in hotel reception and disinterested and ineffectual staff in restaurant. . Visited as non residents Bank Holiday Monday for lunch in The Terrace Restaurant - first time. Called in at reception to check they were open (whole place looked windswept and derelict!) No verbal exchange as receptionists were chatting but pointed up to 'Restaurant'. It had... More

I stayed 2 nights in a comfortable room, was rudely awaken at 2.0am by staff dragging furniture around the function room! I complained first thing in the morning having endured a sleepless night, I was assured that they had noted my complaint and would not experience the same inconsideration the following night. The experience was repeated......I tried to contact the... More

First of all I would like to say that we never really made a booking here, 8 of us after to many drinks won a 2 night stay with £500 spending for £800 at a sealed bid black tie auction. Please note the golf cost us £250 for 8 people one round and giving that you can find a 1night... More

I stayed here for 2 nights on a golf weekend. The hotel itself is large, with lots of private rooms, comfortable lounge areas, etc. My group had a private room for dinner and a private disco - staff were attentive throughout. Dinner was better than I'd expect from a hotel - I had antipasto, fishcakes, chicken, pork, creme brule and... More

Following our grandaughters wedding at Hawstone. I felt I must congratulate the staff and in particular Megan who was on reception. She was attentive and very helpful throughout our stay. The wedding breakfast was superb set in the wishbone room. Lovely! The morning breakfast was plentiful and catered for everyone. Thank you Megan and Hawkstone staff. More

16 ex RAF footballers used this place for the 2nd year to enjoy a round of golf and more than a few drinks together. We stayed overnight in twin rooms which were very clean and tidy. The catering staff laid on a buffet meal for us on the fist day as we were at an early evening function in Shrewsbury.... More

Hawkstone is quite easy to find well signposted on the main road, you just have to follow your nose when in the village and it appears. It is an older hotel becoming very popular for golf breaks and other small functions, not crowded out with business people on away day jollies. We were a little concerned about the 1-30 pm... More

I'm going to be honest about this hotel.... Basically if you like golf it's great and if you like a normal standard rural hotel for a function or wedding then this is the place. Its not the ritz so don't expect pure perfection, yes it. Weds a lick of paint here and there but hey most hotels do. It's not... More
