Kagaya is such a unique place. Very few westerners go here, it is an authentic Onsen resort with riokan style rooms. If sleeping on a futon is not your style, skip it, but if you want an amazing hot spring resort and some great entertainment and loads of fun, not to mention the personal room attendants, check it out. Expensive,... More

Being treated like royalty is something anyone can enjoy... for a price. The service at Kagaya does not stop. My colleagues and I were treated by the Governor of Ishikawa to a stay at this hotel. It really should not be categorized as a B&B but as a full service hotel. It is more of a modern ryokan where meals... More

The public areas of the Kagaya are glitzy and modern, but the rooms are traditional ryokan style. Leave your shoes at the door. The room attendant fits you for a yukata upon arrival, and that is what you wear when you are inside the hotel. The rooms are traditional, with futons for sleeping on the floor, and only one low... Rooms are very tired , even shabby , a surprise for 700 + per night for a couple . We had heard this was the 1# Onsen ryokan in japan, and made a special trip there from Tokyo Saw three increasingly depressing rooms filled with shabby western furniture, and one attached Tatami room , peeling paper , rust stains, and... Kagaya is famous for its service, and i think it's not over-rated. hotel itself isn't so value for money, but the service is REALLY GOOD! not much to see in the neighborhood or the area, and the transportation to Nanao isn't so easy either.

You are greeted by a line of women dressed in kimono, taken to your room by one and fitted out with a Yukata that you can wear throughout your stay. The lady that takes you to your room becomes your room attendant and is the one that fits you with your Yukata and shows you how to wear it. She... More

Stayed there a few years ago, and although for only one night, the experience was unforgettable. Our family joined a tour group to Japan, and Kagaya is one of the hotels we stayed. The moment we arrived(we arrived on a bus), all the employees of the hotel lined up at the front to make us feel like mega VIP. The... More
