We spent one night in Balmacara Mains in May. Accommodation options with good reviews were a bit sparse so I was happy when we found this place. We got the last room-room 7 the luxury double. The guesthouse has a lovely setting looking out over Loch Alsh to Skye. Unfortunately our room looked out to the back so we only... More

The Guesthouse is situated on the shore of Loch Alsh in a beautiful, peaceful and quiet location. The room was adequate with a comfortable bed but why only one chair? There were two Velux widows that when standing provided a view of the loch. No bath but there was a very large shower cabinet. There is a TV with Free... More

Stayed here in Easter break Apr 2013. Spotless room, crisp white linen, excellent bathroom. The view from the room was fantastic over the loch. As it was located just down a wee road, away from the hustle and bustle, it was such a quiet and peaceful location. A fantastic stony beach to have a stroll on after our journey to... More

Just spent 3 wonderful days at balmacara mains with my fiance. Balmaca Mains is in a fantastic setting with stunning views and the room was exceptinally comfortable. The stay was made even more enjoyable by the onsite manager Norman who was so endearing and turned out to be such a character with a great knowledge of the local area. His... More

nice rooms, nice place but the breakfast descriptions on the website are full of lies. there has never been kedgeree on offer for breakfast any more than there has been golspie pinhead oatmeal. why put these things up if there was never any intention of serving them up?????

Myself and my fiance stayed at Balmacara Mains on 16th February. We had an amazing time and only wish we'd had enough time to stay longer. We stayed in room 3. We had private access into a sun lounge which was perfect for sitting taking in the spectacular scenery. The bedroom was gorgeous with a huge comfy bed and loads... More

If you are wanting to really get away from it and have a really quiet night near some great spots, this is a great choice. Less than 10 minutes either way to Eilan Donan castle, Plockton and the Isle of Skye it's a great base from which to explore, but there is no restaurant/bar for evening meals/drinks so factor in... We have stayed here twice, in room 6 and room 8. Both times the service was faultless, the staff were friendly and informative, the rooms were spotlessly clean, the beds super comfy and breakfast was to die for. The location is second to none, the views are wonderful and I cannot wait for our third visit!

We had a lovely stay here. The room was clean and cosy and the bed was very comfortable indeed. The view over the loch was stunning. Breakfast was delicious. The fruit salad was so good and the french toast to die for! There were nice places near by for an evening meal and we were able to bring a take... More
