We recently stayed at Lovedale Lodge to celebrate a joint 40th birthday. It was a fabulous weekend away and can’t recommend it enough, particularly for large groups. We booked the whole property and had 13 adults and 6 kids (ranging from 18 months to 8 years) with plenty of space for everyone. Lovedale Lodge is situated in Lovedale and close enough to the many wineries the Hunter has on offer so makes a great base to explore the region. The Homestead and Villa are connected via a door allowing it be shut off or kept open depending on your needs. Each had their own kitchen and bathroom with the main bedroom in the Homestead having an ensuite. The Cottage is a separate dwelling but close enough to still feel part of everything yet far enough away to provide a quiet space if needed. The kids often went there to play monopoly! We used the Homestead as ‘home base’ and had all our meals etc. around the big table (can seat around 18 people) and two separate living areas meant there was enough space for the kids to have their own space. A highchair was also provided for our youngest child. Each house is air-conditioned which was definitely needed on a weekend where it reached 43 degrees! The only thing that could be improved is while the bedrooms all had fans (ceiling and some freestanding) the rooms that faced west, particularly given the extreme heat we had, were very hot come night time so aircon would be a great addition! There was plenty of space outside and the pool was a hit with the kids (big and small!). The only improvement here would be some shade over the pool area. We had an exceptionally hot weekend and without the pergola one of our group had brought it would’ve been hard to be in the pool over an extended period without any shade. I understand the pool has only been in for a short time so perhaps this is something that will come with time. Overall, we had a great stay at Lovedale and highly recommend it. Our group loved the weekend away. David was a great host, easy communication in the lead up to our stay and available to contact throughout if any issues. A particularly lovely gesture was the 2 bottles of wine waiting for us when we arrived. We will definitely be back!…

Thanks for your suggestions Bronwyn. As a result we have decided to install awnings on the west facing windows and a sail shade for the pool for next summer. Glad you guys enjoyed your stay. You were great guests and are more than welcome back anytime. Cheers, David and Jeanette

I just celebrated my hens weekend with my beautiful girlfriends and Mum, Aunty and cousins at Lovedale Lodge which was just perfect for us. A beautiful, clean and welcoming house that also has a spa and a pool which was amazing to relax by and have a few wines we bought on our wine tour on the Saturday. We even got to see wildlife at night with a few kangaroos hopping by and a little Plover bird family keeping us company. We were very close to all the wineries too so not far to drive but i recommend doing a tour. It was the best! Thankyou Lovedale Lodge xo

Perfect venue for several families enjoying a short stay in Hunter Valley for a wedding. Large lounge dining and patio was great for a large family gathering. We used all 3 cottages for our group of 20. The new pool and air conditioning was appreciated on some very hot days. All 3 cottages had well equipped kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms.... the beds were very comfortable. Only helpful addition would be a few single bed options in some cottages. Venue accommodates 26 if everyone is couples (there are 9 bedrooms and 4 sofa beds .. all double beds) The new owner David was a very helpful host, and has recently renovated the cottages. We would recommend Lovedale Lodge to large groups visiting the Hunter Valley.
