On a short break to Spain we choose this hotel because of its location and were certainly not disappointed, even in the rainy weather. We had room 25 which was a small suite with large windows overlooking the sea with the sound of the waves, which I found very soothing. The Basque coastline is rugged, unspoilt, great food and lovely... More

We absolutely loved this hotel: really wonderful staff, a very peaceful atmosphere and a beautiful room with an outstanding view (room 26, a suite). We stayed 7 nights with our 7 year old daughter, using Getaria as a base to explore the area. All the staff really cared about making our stay comfortable and interesting, suggesting great restaurants in the... More

We stayed at the Saiaz because we had heard Getaria was charming and because Elkano is literally 2 minutes away. However, I wouldn't go to Getaria for charm -- other places along the Basque coastline were much more charming, to our taste at least -- and I definitely wouldn't stay again at the Saiaz. For a start, it's simply a... More

Dear bpch, first of all, let us thank you for your review. We strongly take into account your opinion, and welcome your suggestions in order to improve. Please note that the product whose smell made your experience at the Saiaz so dissapointing has never been used again. If you are coming around, we would be very pleased to welcome you... More

We stayed for three nights, with our two teenagers (14 and 19). The hotel was traditionally funished with great style and taste. Families were welcomed but the hotel retained a very peaceful atmosphere. We booked room 22 (a double room with the floor to ceiling windows looking over the sea) . I agree it is not huge, but it was... More

Cannot say enough good things about the hotel. The location above the sea provides wonderful views. The rooms are very nicely appointed and the staff (especially Miguel) could have not been more helpful. The town is charming and the seafood restaurants within a 5 minute walk are superb (as the town if Getaria is a working fishing port). Parking is... More

This is an old castle completely renovated by the owners, eclectic decoration but perfectly harmonious, a masterpiece. We had the 2 story suite, with a magnificent view of the cantabric through the panoramic windows at the push of a button, every morning. The town is a marvel in itself. Very close to San Sebastian. You could have in Getaria the... More

We stayed at this hotel in June 2011 and loved it. The location was perfect for exploring the Basque region, close to Bilbao, San Sebastian, Hondarribia and the beach. The Seaview room was amazing, so relaxing and a fantastic view. Breakfast was typical European - bread, cheese, cereal, coffee and juice, enough to start your day. But we have to... More

Rooms on the ocean side are small and spare but the view is worthwhile. Staff is very friendly and take pride in the town and hotel. Breakfast is serviceable. Very clean inside and out. Parking is a distance although you won't mind the walk if the weathers fine. More

My husband and I visited the coast of Northern Spain for the first time in May. We were so pleasantly surprised and delighted with the landscape, food, and friendly people. After 4 days on the beach in San Sebastian, we moved to the small fishing village of Getaria. I had discovered Saiaz Getaria Hotel online and was impressed by the... More

The hotel itself is nice. It's nothing amazing, but the views to the sea are absolutely amazing. You're right above the water, looking out on the sea. The parking is tricky, because there is no street parking allowed in the old town, so you have to park in the harbor and walk up many stairs. Make sure to drop you... More
