Right in the heart of Akasaka and close to the Imperial Palace and Akasaka Palace. Very close to two subway stations so easy to get to other parts of the city. Plenty of places to eat nearby. Great value for anywhere but especially Tokyo. Have stayed here and at other Monterey hotels in Japan and would again.

Well maintained, reception staff helpful, rooms clean but small (bed against the wall) though well equipped. The hotel is not as close to the metro as it may lead you to believe - it takes 10 minutes to the trains from the hotel. Plenty of restaurants and night life nearby.

Typically small Japanese room but perfectly adequate and clean. Nice bathroom and very good staff. My only complaint would be the room although a no-smoking room still had a smell of smoke throughout the room which is probably through the air-conditioning system. We found this was not unusual throughout our Japan holiday as smoking is far more prevalent in Japan... More

This was my favorite hotel we stayed in while traveling across Japan and South Korea. There are two train station entrances nearby, each within a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. The Marunouchi Line will take you right into Tokyo Station and other popular stops. Right behind the hotel are alleyways of impressive restaurants, shops and bars. Lots of professionals,... More

My wife and I stayed here for one night in March 2013. The room was quite small - apparently the Japanese standard, but we didn't have much room and barely enough to open up two suitcases. The bed was comfortable, though an extra (softer) pillow would have been appreciated. Bathroom reasonably sized, clean and all worked. Pyjamas provided in the... More

I had an excellent stay at hotel Monterey. The hotel was very conveniently situated for my needs during my stay. The front desk was very professional and completely managed to make my stay a pleasant one. The breakfast served at level 2 was to my liking, especially since it covered both Japanese and western style breakfasts. The hotel was very... More

I stayed in two hotels in the Akasaka area, and this was by far and away the better both in terms of location (near to Akasaka mitsuke underground station, rather than Akasaka, which has better connections). The hotel is also near to the roads of restaurants and bars in Akasaka, but in a quiet location. It is a few minutes... More

Small well managed hotel with a good location in Akasaka. Rooms are small but tastefully furnished and efficient with good amenities. Bathroom is standard prefab unit-bath style. Hundreds of restaurants and izakayas within a five minute walk. Some rooms have a very nice view over the park - something that is rare in Tokyo at this price. Courteous staff -... More

The staff was great. The toilet was a Japanese smart toilet. The shower had great pressure. It's about a 5-7 minute from the closest subway station. It's located in a businessey area, looked like a financial district. Be aware, if you are taking the Narita Express from the airport and decide to get off at Tokyo station to transfer to... More

I've stayed elsewhere in Akasa at hotels in the same price range on previous business trips and have been disappointed in their internet connectivity. I've had problems ranging from having no wireless connectivity at other properties to having very slow connections. The Monterey allowed me to connect all of my devices and I was able to use Skype to attend... More
