Me and My wife and going on vacation to tokyo in March 2016 after searching the internet, we found this hotel as the best hotel that suits our needs, which is value for money and a location close to subway and tourist attractions. This hotel is located just a 5-minute walk from Kuramae station on the Oedo subway and Asakusa Line. it only took 10 minutes to walk if you want to Kaminarimon Sensoji temple and Nakamise Street, a great place to buy souvenirs. The check-in process went smoothly, if you arrive before 14:00 pm, so you can leave your stuff in the lobby before it could get into the room where it was that we did because we got to the hotel at 09.00 am. The lobby staff is very friendly and helpful. room size is not too large. there is space to put a suitcase under the bed. In-room facilities are air conditioning, hairdryer, heating, slop, and others. bathroom with a bathtub in the form of small size, and super hightech japannese style toilet :) There are breakfast every day in front of the lobby, with a simple menu, but enough to make full before leaving. My high appreciation to the old women who work on the kitchen serving breakfast, very kind and helpful. she gives us some onigiri to carry for traveling. Thank a lof for that! at certain hours, there is a shuttle bus that will take us to the Ueno station to commute, but we did not use this facility because of the hour of departure that did not fit in with our schedule. Overall, we were very satisfied staying at this hotel for 4 nights, and would certainly consider staying back there if a vacation to tokyo at a later time.

Same level of service, cleanliness and convenience as other Toyoko Inns that I have stayed at. Very convenience with a shuttle bus from Ueno. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and breakfast was fabulous for a freebie. It is a few blocks from the Asakusa touristy area. Our room was larger than previous Toyoko Inns that I have stayed at. A very pleasant and convenient stay.

The Asakusa Toyoko Inns have free shuttle service from the JR Ueno station. There are a.m. shuttles from the hotel to the JR Ueno station and p.m. shuttles from the JR Ueno Station to the hotels. Check the website. If you arrive inbetween shuttle services, catch the taxi – cost 1000-yen at the most. The hotel is a typical business man’s hotel, small but comfortable and clean rooms. A light Japanese breakfast is included in the hotel rate – it is mostly vegeterian. They have an ECO-plan which if you stay for multiple nights, means the maid doesn’t clean your room or change sheets for which you get a discount. Towels are provided daily and left in a bag on your door. If you sign up for Tyoko membership which is worth it, you get discounted rates. Stay 10 nights and you get a free night.

It is a nice inn, it has the top floor that gives great view. Breakfast is also served at the top floor, good breakfast. There is a Family Mart opposite the inn. Aeon is nearby. There are a few interesting restaurants nearby, good to try.

Big Room Very big twin room compare to other Toyoko Inns in Japan. Big 7-11 store just next to hotel. Window without view as facing another building but was not a problem as we didn't open the window. Free shuttle bus to Ueno JR Station (morning and evening) which is very convenient. Prime Location Less than 5 min walk to Kuramae Toei Line Station (Exit A5, A6) and less than 10 min walk to Kuramae Asakusa Line Station (From this station can take train to (Exit A4) or from (Exit A2) Narita Airport, about 1 hr ride and less than 1,300 yen). Beware both stations (Toei & Asakusa lines) are not linked/connected, must user with different exits. 10 minutes walk to Asakusa Sensoji Temple. Join Membership Join membership (1,500 yen) to get room discount. Must book room thru Toyoko inn website (non member 6 months and members 3 months) in order to enjoy discount. Early check in 3pm instead 4pm and other benefits. As a budget traveler I always book Tokoyo Inn as reasonable price, clean, comfort and complimentary breakfast.

I don't need luxury. Toyoko Inn has all the facilities I need at a very good price and the location is good. The staff is helpful and they speak English, which is a great help for us who don't speak Japanese.

The rooms were clean and quiet. It is a business-man hotel so the rooms tend to be very small. Service was minimal -- pick up Pajama's, razor, etc. downstairs in the lobby. Breakfast was also minimal. The location is OK, but if you are using a JR Rail Pass, you need to travel at least 1 stop to get to a JR line. Free wi-fi is available, but only accessable from the lobby.

It takes 41 minutes from Narita Airport to Ueno Station by Keisei Skyliner, and you can carry your moderate sized luggages in the train without much hassles. The hotel's free shuttle bus comes to Ueno station at hourly intervals to pick up the guests to the hotel. So far so good, but there is a catch. The Ueno station where you will alight from the Skyliner is a different station from the JR Ueno outside which the shuttle waits. But the saving grace is that they are located close to each other and one can easily walk. The bus waits near the Iriya gate of JR Ueno station and I had great difficulty in locating it. The location of the hotel is first-rate, very near to many tourist high points of Asakusa. Sensoji temple, Tokyo Skytree, Sumida river are all approachable by walk. Ueno area, another tourist spot can be reached by hotel shuttle bus for visit to zoo, museum etc. For other places of Tokyo one can travel by metro using one of the three stations which are in close proximity. The rooms are small but every care has been taken to provide creature comfort. I stayed with my son in a room that was like two rooms with the toilet separating the independent parts. Each part was provided with separate TVs, fridges and all necessities. Quite good. Breakfast buffet, which was complimentary was predominantly a Japanese affair, which didn't suit to my Indian taste buds. If the breakfast doesn't suit just hop on to the adjoining building where 7-11 convenience store is located. Just two buildings away on the opposite side is an Indian restaurant. The hotel is good value for your money.

Overlooking the part that they they have really strict check in time at 4pm (3pm if you are member). Majority of the front desk staff speaks basic English. (There was one that spoke really fluently though.) Location wise, the hotel is 3~4 mins from Kuramae (Toei Oedo Line) exit A5 (with elevator) and about 10 mins walk from Asakusa Tourist Spot. There is a 7-11 1 minute away and for food solution, you might have to walk to Asakusa area. Our room was located on the 9th floor and when we strolled pass some of the other rooms (the door was left open for cleaning), we realise we got a slightly bigger room. The room was clean and everything seems fine. The wifi was non-existent in the room and upon informing the front desk on that, the staff came quickly to fix in a router in our room. Our window faced another building, so there was no view to speak of and that there were pigeons loitering outside, so we did not open the window almost at all. The bed was a little hard and the pillow was soft on one side and filled with some plastic-like things on the other. The room was rather spacious, enough for our 2 luggages and the air con with heating properties did warm up the room enough. The washroom was rather big as compared to most Japanese hotel washroom. There is breakfast service and washing machine and dryer on the 1st floor. Microwave and water dispenser is on the 1st floor as well. I signed up for the membership so as to check to in early. But as it seems, there are a lot of pros that come with it like 20% for Sunday and Japan's holiday and 5% cheaper then non-members. Overall, the hotel is not bad. I will probably give the other chain a try so as to maximize my membership card as well.
