We were booked here as our last hotel was not very good, we received a warm welcome late at night and given a choice of rooms to choose from, we had dinner there and it was lovely, the breakfast was very good and we had a lovely stay there. The place is well worth the visit.

We received a very warm welcome from Sue and her staff, not to mention locals. There is a great community spirit. Our ground-floor room (10) although by the road was very comfortable with warm restful colours, ample toiletries, tea, coffee and comfort. we were not disturbed by the traffic. Little dogs Oscar and Lily also welcomed all visitors, checking us... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights over May Bank holiday weekend. Sue runs a great establishment. Room was clean, great facilities etc, all you would expect. Had a really good couple of evenings in the bar, especially on the Saturday for the charity quiz night, Sue is a great host. Food was of a good quality, breakfast and evening... More

Staff were lovely and friendly so were the local people. The room was confortable and cosy although the TV was a bit on the small side (12" screen). Really nice place. The breakfast was very good although the cook should try to source Aultbea black pudding. The evening meal I felt was overpriced for pretty basic fare, but there wasn't... More

It was not just dog tolerant, but dog friendly. Dogs were allowed free roam and there was access to the yard et the end of the corridor and the service was relaxed, we were allowed an extra room with no extra cost simply because it was available! The food was to die for, good quality meat reasonably priced and there... More

There is nothing wrong with the food except the price. Charged far too much for what is essentially very basic fare but as they are the only show in town of an evening ....... On the up side the owner is friendly, as are the locals, and the dog Oscar is an internet star. No, he really is.

We stayed here one night on the way to a wedding. We were greeted, entertained and well looked after by the staff. Food was very good, and the pub atmosphere very friendly - we were joining in with the locals in this lovely little village. The rooms were fine and just what we needed after a long days drive. I... Greeted by a lively, welcoming, friendly landlady and her dogs...yes it's a dog friendly inn with atmosphere and character. I was made to feel part of the family and that extended to the adjoining local pub where I felt valued and at home in this small Galloway town. Menu honest, wholesome pub style food using local produce..which works here! Good... More
