Complete tranquility, traditional yet cooly designed Japanese life can be enjoyed. Nice neighborhood to walk around. The whole area is surrounded with old historical mood, lots of trees, and charming dosojin dolls (protective stone markers). Can be an escape during summer, though this place is well known for being the original skiing resort.

The hotel is expensive, but well worth it for a very special one off cultural experience.
