The Bedingfeld Arms is an 18th century freehouse coaching Inn, located in the picturesque village of Oxborough, that has been fully refitted in 2012 and now has 4 large comfortable and stylish ensuite bedrooms in the main building and 5 smaller but well appointed Coach Rooms. Impressive Marble/Stone Fireplaces in relaxed and comfortable bar and dining area. Good locally sourced fresh food, fine wines, and real ales all open to both resident guests and the public, with an extensive south facing and lawned garden where food and drink is also served in the summer. Situated opposite the popular National Trust Oxburgh Hall.
We had booked a table for a birthday dinner at 2:45. This was a birthday party for a table of six. Me and my partner had drove from Essex 2 1/2 hour drive. Another friend had come from Haywards Heath over three hour round-trip by train. We arrived at 2:50 and then waited at the bar for another four minutes until was seen. We was told that the chef had turned off the oven and we was too late for our table and was turned away. We was all shocked that the Oven could’ve only been off for no more than five minutes. We was told it takes too long for them to heat up. Very disappointing after a long travel time and simply turned away for being five minutes late.

Have visited previously and can only assume management has changed. On previous visits the restaurant was extremely good with well prepared and wide variety of restaurant quality food. However this evening g the meals with our friends was frankly second rate. My bass was limp and poorly seasoned, no crisp skin and only 1/2 inch thick of flesh and not at all appealing, coupled with a couple of halved new potatoes and a lack lustre sauce, this meal was not at all what I would expect from this venue. My partners chicken was a paltry portion with a boring sauce and the mash was average, the same goes for our friends chicken dish and our friends beef burger was just, well! A boring burger. The veggies described as seasonal vegetables was some broccoli and french beans, tbh would have expected at least 3 or 4 vegetables to be considered a selection!!! The raspberry cheesecake didn’t taste as good as the one supplied in a Tescos meal deal!! Rubbery topping, very firm texture and a ridiculously small coulee. A cheesecake should be light a fluffy with a suitable freshly prepared topping with some accompanying fresh fruit to qualify for the £8 price tag! Extremely disappointing evening and certainly not value for money and will not return.…

Just popped in for a drink after visiting Oxborough Hall. What a lovely place! Great atmospheric music, friendly and attentive staff, warm and cosy feeling with an open fireplace. The food looked delicious, unfortunately we had already eaten otherwise this would have definitely been ordering food. Great beer and wine selection and my Sauvignon Blanc was delicious! We will definitely be back when we visit the Hall again, sooner rather than later hopefully.

Had Sunday roast, very nice. They had ran out of horseradish but otherwise couldn't fault it. The lemon posset for dessert was fantastic, good portion and not too sweet. Service was good. Fireplace smoking the bar out, which happened previous visit as well, might need sweeping!

Excellent food and charming staff but the service was very slow. We even gave desserts a miss as the wait would have been too long. The restaurant was slightly cold and the radiator wasn't on. It's a shame but we would come back and hopefully the service will be quicker. Maybe they were short of staff which obviously happens but an explanation would have been useful. We'll try again sometime as the food was great

We had a fantastic 3 night stay at The Bedlingfeld Arms over New Year. The room was lovely, the food delicious and service exceptional. We (my husband, dog and I ) were in Room 10 which is a mini suite at the top of the building - very comfortable! Tea/ coffee facilities, bath, walk in shower and little lounge area. We had dinner all 3 nights so got to try lots on the menu! Breakfast (extra) is must. There was an issue with the heating on the first night but this was quickly sorted out the next morning. The staff, especially Andrew and Emmie, bent over backwards to make sure we were happy including putting the TV on at 11.45pm to watch the New Year fireworks when all other residents had gone to bed! Oxburgh Hall (National Trust) is opposite including the ruins of an old church. A few miles away are the Gooderstone Water Gardens which are well worth a visit. We also met the owners (Stephen and Catkin) who told us of a few walks to go on which were lovely. We look forward to booking again to explore some more! …

The huge room we had with it's 4 poster bed and massive bathroom together with double shower only begin to explain how brilliant this place is. The true stars are the staff, particularly Andy & Emma who made our stay perfect. Andy's engagement and attention to detail were a wonder too behold, he joined in our banter without overstepping the mark. Shout out to Tom too who loaned us his lighter so we could get the candles going in our room. We felt like we'd been away for a week when we drove away. Thank you all

We decided to do something different for Christmas rather than the usual dinner dance with the masses at the larger local hotels. The Bedingfeld Arms was a great discovery. A relatively remote country pub with character, an open fire and a stone’s throw away from the National Trust’s Oxborough Hall. The staff (Emmie & Andrew) were very welcoming and great hosts during our stay. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and the accommodation clean making for a very enjoyable stay. Thank you.

Really excellent meal tonight. Unfussy menu, unpretentious but beautifully cooked and efficiently served. I had the (excellent) Boeuf Bourguignon and my wife the house burger. The Norfolk Cheeseboard came with homemade cheese biscuits too. The wine menu is modest but covers most bases and suited the menu. Andrew looked after us well, and even offered to run us home as it was raining when we came to leave. Overall it was very affordable too, we would both very happily go back.
