The hotel is situated on a river bank between Sadari and Ranakpur, not in the hills, but close enough. The river is dry as there is a dam up-stream. The hotel building is imposing- an old palace. Gardens are extensive and green. Service is excellent. We found the staff very courteous and ready to go extra mile to make you... More

We didn't think they could get any harder, but both the bed and the pillows set some kind of a record! Having said that, this is a lovely hotel that probably needs a little updating. The staff are excellent and friendly. Watch the raised steps, my wife didn't and landed embarrassingly in the lap of the manager who saved her... More

I imagine this to be the best place to stay for visiting the Jain temple. It is very acceptable accommodation without being exceptional. The grounds and outdoor pool are very pleasant and we had chance to play badminton and table tennis. There were 3 staff in the spa ready to offer massage etc. The room was just ok, the furniture... To new to my taste! It is not really a transplanted palace. They build a new place and try to blend in pieces of an old palace. At least they have done something to save what was left from the old ruin!! Nice pool and roof top. Staff is friendly and helpful. (asked for nails scissors. A member of staff... More

I am not sure that what they have done in blending the old and new is entirely successful. I found that the new was out of place and they had not achieved a uniform style architecturally, but more of a hotch potch of design. That being said, my room was lovely. It had a huge bath in it- made of... More

This hotel was built in 2006 using thousands of pieces of a ruined palace from another part of Rajasthan and they did a wonderful job. We stayed in a Double Deluxe Suite with a lovely hexagonal-shaped balcony with a view over the pool and a tree with parrots flitting about from time to time. Extremely classy place.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Fateh Bagh is probably India's first attempt at 'relocating a fallen palace', faithfully preserving the rich Rajput architecture. Rawla Koshilav that flourished as a palace on the foothills of Aravallis near Jodhpur in 1802 became a neglected piece of heritage in the 20th century. In 2002, around 65,000 pieces of the crumbling palace were transported to a scenic spot in Ranakpur, amidst the orchards and on the banks of a rain fed river, to create Fateh Bagh! The imposing square shaped, beige walls and majestic arches, intricately carved pillars and pavilions, beautiful domes and the wonderful fountain in the foreground are all far removed from the ‘functional minimalism’ that is worshipped as design today. The palace and its hospitality are recreated history. ... more   less
