Our stay was pleasant. our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent as was the one group dinner we had. We enjoyed relaxing in the courtyard after a hard day of biking. The staff was friendly and helpful. It's hard to beat a medieval castle.

This old castle has been converted into a very pleasant hotel. Rooms are spacious, although furnishings are a bit basic. Breakfast was good.

Fabulous building, could almost be out of the film set of El Cid.Unfortunately this pousada is let down by its inattention to detail. The room could have been fabulous if the furnishings had been in a better condition and the toilet seat was falling apart in the bathroom. The same went for the gardens outside it looked as is the maintainance man had...

We stayed at the Pousada de Castelo de Alvito for one night on our way through the region. The Pousada is located very nicely in the middle of this small village. The room we stayed in was very spacious and clean and had many original features. The views over the garden were very nice and one could enjoy looking at...

Not the easiest place to get to, as Alvito is definitely off the main roads, but a nice retreat. Set in a charming small town, this small castle has been turned into a good hotel. Quiet, clean, comfortable, with all the amenities we needed. We did stay (one night) in a superior room, which was huge! Nice view of the...

In October we returned for the 4th time to this lovely small Pousada. It is very difficult to put your finger on why we like it so much, in many ways it has this magic quality of just being special. The rooms are lovely, and the pool small and intimte if in need of a bit of rejuvenation....but funnily enough...

Upon leaving the highway, one travelled deep into the alentejo plains and countryside. There were more horses, sheep, cows and goats than people. We were waved and pointed toward ALvito by a group of elderly gents in their...

This Pousada is a small Castle with beautifull gardens with beautiful peacoks. The rooms was large and very clean. At the reception desk a nice and polite lady welcame and drive us to the room.
The service and the food at the Restaurant was very good. Sure we will be back.

We stayed at the Pousada Alvito for one night in Oct '06 on our way to Lisbon. The Alentejo region of Portugal is stunningly beautiful and blissfully short on tourists we found which was great! The Pousada is a fantastic 15th century castle. After check-in we were shown to our room which was rustically furnished & very comfortable with a...
