We found out about this place over tripadvisor.com We are pleased to inform you, that it not only meets, it exceeds all expectations concerning paradise and enjoying every piece of it. It might be a bit difficult to get there, but trust me, that`s a good thing for two good reasons: 1)You avoid crowds, and what they represent. 2)It's worth... More

We stayed at Bacalar Lagoon Resort in February of 2012. After driving down the narrow road… We came to Paradise! Roberto’s Resort is amazingly beautiful. We are sure we do not need to go to Tahiti anymore as this is as beautiful and idyllic as it could ever get. We loved watching for the parrots and macaws and other birds,... More

Lovely cabanas scattered across attractively landscaped garden, well spaced for privacy.Sitting on the edge of the lake at sun set, watching the stars with no other signs of human habitation in view is a magical experience.Lovely dinners, excellent breakfasts, all freshly and lovingly prepared add to the sense that this is a special place.Service is attentive but informal and low-key,perfectly in keeping with the... From the moment we arrived, we were treated to superior service. Roberto, our host, made us feel like we were family visiting his home. What an amazing experience to be able to enjoy this piece of paradise tucked away from the hustle of the usual tourist experience. We will no doubt be returning to this gem - for the location,... For this Canadian traveller, this really was the best of all worlds. A beautiful freshwater lagoon in a tropical climate. Roberto was a fantastic host and we wanted for nothing....it was all there or he made it happen...even the parrot sighting. What a great time!! Thanks Roberto. More

We popped for a brief lunch visit and swim as part of a Chacchoben tour. What a lovely little gem. Beautiful surroundings, parrots and hummingbirds from the verranda of the gorgeous restaurant building. Great food and a wonderful and memorable host and owner. Highly recommended for a 'getting away from it all' break. We felt like we had the lagoon... More

There are many things to say about this hotel, all of them excellent. Superb attentive service, fantastic clean rooms, food & drink excellent value for money. Add that to the fact it is on the edge of the lagoon & you're onto a real winner here. Be aware that this hotel is down a dirt track which is great for... More

Having been to Costa Maya a few times with NCL, we were looking for something different this time; so we booked a tour to Bacalar Lagoon through "the Native Choice". Our expectation was simply to go to an inland beach to swim, snorkel and kayak. Frankly, the 45 minute ride from Costa Maya through flat and wet scruff-land started to... More

For our cruise we booked an excursion in Cozumel (The Jeep/Beach Adventure which was disappointing, particularly because of the lame snorkeling location) and Costa Maya (the Chachoben Extreem). The Costa Maya tour was everything that the Cozumel tour was not. It first took us to the ruins, a very interesting and informative tour hosted by guide Ivan who grew up... More
