Still just as good as ever. Spent another wonderful long weekend at Shobden with Diana and Bill. Never fail to look after our needs and those of Ziggy our greyhound. Food was excellent and the jugged hare took me back to my childhood. Rooms are clean and well kept. Will be back.

Good food and an interesting history with Shobden airfield in WW11 see the memorabelia in the games room. menu goes from soup and crusty bread to to quite a varied and from my point of view filling menu. The lady in the kitchen was pleasant and very helpful with any variations to the menu.

Found Diane, Bill and the rest of the staff nothing but helpful and accommodating. The rooms are spacious and have character. The pub is cosy and has character. We have a greyhound who is made welcome and given treats by the staff (she finds Bill a pushover). Yes the pub dogs come first but they live here!!! If you want... More

Camping overnight at Shobdon Airfield and went into the village for some grub and beer at 7pm on a Friday evening. Barmaid pleasant. Landlady unfriendly. Told us that if we wanted to eat we'd have to order within 10 minutes as there would soon be a rush on as they were expecting lots of people. Ordered food. Very average. Probably... More

We stayed here for two nights. The room and food were all right, but the owner went out of her way to make us feel like unwelcome intruders. It was by far the unfriendliest place we have ever stayed in the UK. Nothing could get us to stay here again.

If you are looking for a warm welcome I’d whole heartedly recommend the Bateman Arms at Shobdon, we stayed as part of a spur of the moment thing, to visit the Hay Festival, and very pleased we did. The room and furnishing were a high standard, large, clean and warm with an excellent on-suite with plenty of hot water, everything... More

We arrived at the Bateman Arms running late for a wedding having had car trouble. The landlady was nothing sort of heroic letting us use the phone (no mobile reception), bringing drinks to our room, actually driving us to the church and then booking the only taxi in the area to return us back in the evening. Our room was... More

Excellent service, very polite staff, clean and tidy rooms that suited our purpose. For anyone looking to stay in area I would certainly recommend The Bateman Arms. The staff were very accommodating and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. They were not pushy, so you could sit in comfort without feeling you were in the way. People with young children,...
