Great atmosphere everywhere, staff very friendly and polite. Incredible views of the animals when you go out, our favourites were the elephants and lions. Lovely dining room and breakfast choice, and our lodge had a small private pool. Great week spent there.

Stayed for three nights in late April as part of Garden Route self-drive tour. Great introduction to the African safari experience and thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the wildlife in near natural conditions. Chalet was fine, given the nature of Kariega, and great for just chilling with a nice bottle of wine. Always plenty to eat - if anything meals came... More

Thank you for posting your review of the reserve. We're glad that you enjoyed your first safari experience and enjoyed the atmosphere at the lodge. We offer an authentic and relaxed safari experience and always try to ensure that guests are given personal service with their own ranger/guide. Good tip to take some time to explore the local area. It should have been the grande finale of our trip to South Africa. And it certainly was the most expensive place we stayed in - unfortunately it was far away from being the best. The Chalets urgently need renovation, everything seems old and dirty. The power irreparably failed after turning on the heating so we had to move to another... More

We are very sorry that you were disappointed with your stay with us at Kariega. Our team responded immediately when there was a problem in your chalet. Additionally, we arranged a special safari trip for you and your 2 year old child as well as settling your bar bill with our compliments. We are sorry that this did not make... More

We stayed in the Uhkozi lodge for 4 nights and had the most amazing time. The highlight of the trip was the wonderful wilderness fly camp where you walked within touching distance of Giraffe, Zebra, Warthogs, Antelope and stayed overnight in a well prepared campsite for 1 night. The lions feasting on an antelope on the final night is an... More

Our Kariega experience at The River Lodge was exceptional in every respect. The online booking and contact with reservation staff was warm and friendly, as was our welcome at River Lodge. We could not ask for more in any area of service. Our Ranger, Zolani Mofu, was just great fun, very knowledgable, and flexible. His willingness to show us as... More

My 14 year old son and I had a fantastic safari experience at Kariega. Beautiful location, the property was sizeable enough for it to feel wild and real, yet not so big that you had to spend the whole day driving just to find something. The animals were beautiful and plentiful - lots of babies which was perfect! Our ranger... More

This was the last leg of our honeymoon in South Africa. We spent 3 nights in a main lodge chalet which was great and felt authentic. The food in the restaurant was great and we enjoyed food by the campsite on the 2nd night. Great atmosphere and good fun. We had 4 game drives with Matt the Ranger who knew... More

We arrived just after heavy rain. The staff here just could not do enough for us. They really bent over backwards. I think the gratuity at the end showed. It really helps if management is around. It really showed. The game viewing was most certainly superior, and trust me I have been many. Food wise the kitchen really outdid itself... More

I recently stayed on the Game Reserve for two nights and had four game drives in this time. There were three of us and we were in a four bedroom chalet! Each having our own bedroom and bathroom. I read some of the negative feedback from other travellers who I can only assume had a out of the ordinary experience. We travelled to Kariega with 4 excited children in tow, it is easily accessible from PE and is brilliantly located for the beautiful life guard kept beaches of Kenton on Sea. Main lodge chalet accommodation was fine -... More
