We booked one of the "historic" cabins, i.e. no view, but it really didn't matter - the canyon is a mere 50 metres away! If anything, it was quieter than the rim-facing cabins as we didn't have tourists trudging past our windows in the day. Plus it was cheaper and we still had our own bathroom (non-negotiable for us). We... More

We recently stayed in a room at the Bright Angel Lodge. When we got to the Grand Canyon, we stopped first at the visitors center about noon. Among other questions, I asked the staff there if they thought it possible to check in early at the Bright Angel Lodge. They immediately remarked..."no...didn't your reservation say 4 pm"? But, after we... More

My husband and I arrived at the Bright Angel Lodge after stopping at the Visitor's center for our first look at the incredible Grand Canyon. We checked in early- about 1:30pm and our room was already ready for us. I recommend getting a private bathroom, those in previous reviews who complain about using shared toilets and showers...well, you don't have... More

I chose a rim side cabin with partial view during the planning stages almost 10 months in advance, because no cabin with a view existed vacant. You must plan at least 1 year in advance if that's what you desire. Our room was #6148 which was about middle of the stretch of cabins. There is access to ice as long... More

My wife and I stayed at Bright Angel Lodge in one of their cabins. I had never been to the Grand Canyon before, so I was not sure what to expect. I had heard it was spectacular, but wanted to experience it first hand. We checked in after dark, so I was not able to see how far we were... More

Like what many reviewers have said, the location of Bright Angel lodge on the rim of the Canyon is amazing. We had a great sunset tour of the Canyon and our guide was amazing. However, staying here has some downsides. The lodges are quite basic - we stayed in the Purcell lodge and had to share toilets and showers with... More

I booked a "partial rim view" cabin a year in advance -- the "full rim view" cabins were all gone. So plan ahead!! I was amazed to find out once I got there that these wonderful, historic, comfy, character-laden cabins are less expensive than the modern, standard, tasteless hotel rooms that are available in either the Thunderbird or the Maswick.... The setting right next to the Canyon is amazing and, whilst not a five-star resort, amenities are great, rooms comfortable but not grand, and there is always the incredible view! The shuttle bus works well and is reasonably frequent More

My wife and I stayed in a cabin last weekend and it was great. I was a little concerned at first because it was located next to the road, but there is virtually no traffic in the evenings, so no problem. Nicely updated bathroom, very well kept and very clean (the cabins were built in 1935, so you are litterally... More

If you're overnighting at the Grand Canyon south rim this is such a cool option! Book early, very early, and you might be lucky enough to get a rim cabin from which you ann sit on your little stoop and enjoy the view a few steps from the canyon edge, truly amazing! Our little cabin was about 25 steps off... More
