It's the little touches and attention to detail that really make a place stand out. J&J are lovely. The oft-mentioned banana bread was great, and there was also various fruit, snacks, crisps, noodles, coffee, teas, little snack cheeses, oatmeal, and cereals. The jacuzzi bath was a good place to relax after walking all day. We did not try the outside... More

At the Crater's Edge is an interesting experience. The room is beautifully furnished although not necessarily in a practical way - i.e., not much closet space. But it does offer complete privacy in a very quiet setting quite close to Volcanoes National Park. This isn't really a B&B but does provide hot and cold cereals, fresh fruit, and a banana... More

i agree with the reviews that state that this is not your mom & dad's B&B. If the term, B&B scares you and makes you want to run and hide, have no fear that Melanie has done a great job of creating a wondrful place to stay in a private retreat. The room we stayed in was beautiful, spacious, and... More

We stayed in the Nahelani room which concerned me at first as I heard it faced the street and another person had mentioned that for privacy you had to have your curtains closed all of the time. While it's true that the room faces the driveway, and if a person was walking up the stairs to go to their room... More

Melanie the owner and Jason/Jay the caretakers were all wonderful to work with. Melanie sends a lot of useful information with the reservation. Jason and Jay went far out of their way to make our 4 days there wonderful. They provided a blender for smoothies and on our last day, kept our luggage in the room the whole day and... More

This abode of relaxation was perfect for the two of us for pausing between day hikes between the volcano, desert, black sand beach and green sand beach. We stayed in the Heavenly Forest room, which was excellent. Felt like home. The fireplace was a nice touch and came in handy to warm ourselves after trekking miles in the gusty volcano... More

We stayed At the Craters Edge for our Big Island portion of our honeymoon and it couldn't have been more perfect. We loved the quiet tranquility of this place along with the amazing beds and unique rooms. This place is literally built in the middle of a rain-forest and since the rooms are set up off the ground, you truly... More

At The Crater's Edge is an excellent bed and breakfast. It isn't a traditional bed and breakfast, it is more a room stocked with food. They have items to eat, but do not cook on location (gave a great blueberry loaf and fresh fruit and got a microwave for cooking other items like oatmeal). That does not change anything to... More

We were in the Nahelanai room. It was very pretty, and there were some nice touches like a bowl of fresh fruit and some banana bread, but overall I would not recommend the place and I would not return. First of all, there was nowhere to put any of your belongings -- no drawers, no shelves, no storage except for... More

Loved it here. We slept so well! Very quiet and peaceful. Great for a short retreat to rest. Yummy fruit and bread. Loved the Hot Tub! Coolest view from a room ever! In the jungle!
