Elephant House truly takes you off the R335, and transforms you into another world. They really nailed it with the ambience of the courtyards, lounges and guest rooms. The dining spaces are romantic, and the food is excellent. They have their own jeep and extremely knowledgeable tour guide for safaris into Addo Elephant National Park. Not everyone will 'get' this place. Clive and his team have recreated a bygone age of empire and faded colonial grandeur. It was unusual to find ourselves staying in a converted stable but it was well done giving us a large and comfortable lodge. The service was first class, the breakfast was excellent and I even went out in the morning to find my car had been washed.
