Sure it's tired but many of the rooms have new furniture since we were here two years ago. What we like: 1) very close to a great beach - 3-4 minutes to Batt's Rock Beach 2) economical - studio, one and two bedroom apartments with complete kitchens at decent prices 3) free wifi and satellite TV 4) very friendly family... Please, read all to the conclusion: When we arrived we were disappointed...sure we were very tired after a long flight. The apartment wasn,t meeting our expectations. We are a family of four with 2 little daughters, and we had asked for a cot before reserving the apt, that was missing. So we joined the 3 single beds in the rooms... More

Walmer is a bit tired as other reviews have said but the location is ideal if you want a longer term winter vacation - three week or more. The owners are wonderful people and even had all residents for a bar b que one night. Met other couples returning for 5th and 6th time. This is not a place for... More

I am writing this in the Walmer Lodge, with free WiFi. I rather like this place, and am surprised by the couple of aggressive earlier reviews. - If you are a party animal with a lot of money to spend and you like to have cocktails served while you are relaxing at the pool, this is not the place for... You do not know who is writing the reviews, but if you read enough of them.....a general impression will rise.....and reality will speak. People have different preferences and reasons for their choices..........but.....choose again...right away! I was asked to check this hotel as friends had booked to stay for the month of February. It should be an embrassment to the Babados... More

I agree with other reviews that the Walmer is a bit past its sell by date but it does have some things going for it.we've stayed there 3 times so far and would stay there again.for us one of the main points is that it's not near the main touristy areas, more like the real Barbados.second point is the super beach... I rented through Internet. The picture they post on their site is ABSOLUTELY false! A dump! We had exactly the same experience as the rewiew titled "Don't even think about it" We decided to forfeit our deposit and went looking for something else. If you plan on staying at the Walmer, you should instead think about going camping... We ended... More

It's not a four-star place by any means, but it was roomy and comfortable and had A/C and a full kitchen, not to mention it's a four-minute hike through a freakin' rainforest to the beach! For $50/night, what more could you ask for? It's not a luxury suite, but you're not paying for a luxury suite. For B$1.25 you can... More

We booked our stay through the Walmer Apt. website. On our arrival date to the hotel there was noone to greet us. After searching the grounds a man appeared from behind a bush holding a machete. When we asked him if there was anyone there, he said "no, they are all away home". He took us to our "room" where... More
