We stayed at Hotel Tropicoco for 6 nights in mid April after finding cheap package vacation through HolaSun. The reason we chose this package was due to its good location to Havana and access to the beach. What we didn’t know was that this is not a touristy (Canadian) hotel but rather a cheap getaway for older men to find... More

I stayed at this all inclusive resort in may of 2011.The rooms are very nice and clean. The location is very good right across the street from the beach. The food on the other hand as in most of cuba was very bad.Very cheap for what you got i paid 30 dollers a night which included three meals and all you could... We stayed at this hotel in April/May 2012. The room was adequate although not clean. The food was bland and while we were there it was almost always the same variety (which was lacking)The service was terrible...the people working the dinner hall were indifferent to us and we got up and poured our own drinks. The a la cart restaurant was... More

older 2 star hotel...with a non-all inclusive feel...great location to enjoy both beach and city. beach is directly across the street from the hotel and is very nice...you can walk for miles in either direction. fun waves to play in some days and for calmer days the hotel provides kayaks, paddle boats and a few sailboats for free. beach towels... Well, another trip to Hotel Tropicoco, a really nice place, the people there are so wonderful and they really are a nice bunch of people there. Despite the negative reviews, (which I don't agree with - it's CUBA! a different way of life down there, the "girls for hire" well what can one do about that? nothing!! They all keep... More

Just back from the Tropicoco. Great place if you are looking to be near Havana without having to pay for food and drinks. Hotel is basic but clean and friendly. Definitely a place to stay if you want to avoid the "All inclusive" scene. After reading all the negative , almost obsessive rants about the girls for hire, one wonders... More

We booked this place last minute and for the money was well worth it. It's not by Canadian standards a luxury hotel, but for a place to eat and sleep, it worked out well. Nice beach - could have been cleaner, but it's open to the public too. Staff wasn't overly friendly; nicer when you tipped. Rooms were very basic... More

So far I've been here twice and was happy with what I got on the whole. The food is recycled on occasion but there are several restaurants within walking distance. I had friends to walk with. Alone I wouldn't do it. Single supplement is super low. Water didn't always work but I didn't see any cockroaches. Because the place is... More

I visited Cuba from February 11 to March l0, 2012 so am a bit slow at writing my review this year. Enjoyed every minute that I spent there and have actually made a You Tube movie, set to music of some of my photos. Named it "Tripagogo to the Tropicoco Cuba, 2012" if anyone wants to see it. I posted... More

Reviewed trip advisor for this property and travel rep advised us not to book this property. I have always enjoyed travel and locations that most main stream travelers wouldn't consider. I have travelled comprehensively around the globe and have had a multiude of both positive and negative experiences. Accommodations ranging from ,most deplorable to the most elegant. Thanks for your comments Anne Marie D. I am sure that readers will find interesting your description of the destination. Although Santa María del Mar is known to be a secure place, I agree with you on recommending female travellers not to wander around in an isolated beach in the dark. I hope to see you again in Tropicoco. Best... More
