Warning: I write long reviews. Arrival: Flight and transfer from airport to hotel (all arranged by ClubMed) went well (aside from Air Canada flight being delayed by 2hrs..not ClubMed's fault). Staff at airport were clearly only hanging around for our flight, as we saw them leaving as soon as we were processed. Club Med staff standing by to greet us by name and get us into a shuttle to the resort...less than 10min drive. Upon arrival, check-in was simple (it was 1:30am, so nobody else there) and they had plates of food waiting for us, expecting we'd be hungry (we were!). Very nice touch. Extended golf cart took us and luggage to our room, which would have been quite a walk. Accommodations: Stayed in a 'Family Superior' room in order to have 3 beds (1 qn, 2 singles). We were in the furthest building from everything which made for a bit of a walk to get to the pool, beach, restaurant, etc., but we packed a bag with all we needed each morning and were gone from 8am-6pm so the distance didn't matter. If you plan to visit the room more often, perhaps seek one closer to the action. It was VERY quiet where we were (building called 'Azul'). Search Google for ClubMed Punta Cana map. Room was simple (not luxurious) but beds were comfortable, great water pressure, same electrical outlets as US/Canada, extra room for storage of things was well used. I recommend bringing a clothesline to hang things in there to dry. Things don't dry on the balcony over night, due to humidity. Food/Drink: Food....was...excellent. My wife is a vegetarian and had great options at both large buffet-style restaurants at the resort. There was always lots of everything, and staff were very friendly. The reason I only gained 3 lbs in my week there was solely due to all the activities that offset the great eating. Each night has an optional dress code theme, use the ClubMed app to see them in advance. Activities: One of the reasons we chose ClubMed Punta Cana. Sailing, snorkeling, kayaking, SUP, beach vball, trapeze and more are all included, along with additional activities for a charge (see resorts Activities site). Main pool was very large and not crowded, but I'm still annoyed at the tendency for people to lay their towels out at 8am to 'reserve' their beach/pool chairs for the day (not unique to ClubMed). Kids spent a bit of time at the Teens Club and made some friends too, so if you bring kids, get them involved in the Kid Club/Teen Club immediately. Don't wait a few days, as it can make it harder to 'break in' to the friend groups that have already formed. Entertainment: There is always something going on at night, from impersonation shows (eg. Michael Jackson one was a lot of fun), dancing at the Cielo Bar, the beach party night, and more. Do yourself a favour and have a short nap if needed before/after dinner so you can stay up and check them out nightly. There are many songs you will hear regularly at the resort, and specific dance moves that go with them. Have some fun and learn them. Language: ClubMed started as a French company, and they've maintained that with a lot of marketing in France and other french-speaking countries, despite being owned now by a Chinese company. You'll find a lot of French tourists (from France, and Quebec Canada) and french-speaking staff there (many from Haiti). Being in the DR, most service staff speak Spanish primarily. English is not the primary language spoken here. When we arrived, we almost exclusively heard French being spoken (fine for us), but as the new week started, there was a little more English being heard from other visitors. Most people we met were from France, or Canada. Staff: I'm told the GOs ('gentle organizers') are a little less 'engaged' at this location than at some other ClubMed locations, but we aren't high-maintenance and they were always helpful/friendly in our interactions. Shout-out to 'Power' and Ricardo for the 5km morning walks and aquafit, to Eduardo for drinks by the pool, Ibo and Jose at Cielo Bar, Sabine at the snorkel/sail desk and the dozens/hundreds of other omnipresent GOs who were ready for whatever you needed. There are photographers that roam around and take pics of you, no obligation to buy, and you're given access to a website to see them (at the resort, or after you get home). They charge about $25/pic USD, which is extortive, so be sure to take some of your own pics unless you're ok with that price. I can see why people become exclusively ClubMed travelers. Thanks ClubMed Punta Cana!…
