Hotel Saint -John ** is located close to the Airport, Gare Maritime and Terminal Croisieres At the heart of Pointe a Pitre, 44 comfortable rooms with sea or city view and having all A bathroom (shower or bath) with WC, refrigerator, safe, individual air conditioning, flat screen TV canal + channel cinema, sports channel, CNN and TNT and free WiFi.
There is only one reason to stay here, thats if you have to take a ferry the next day. Location is shady at night and looks dirty in the day. You can walk to better areas but there really is no reason to walk around this area. I walked all over looking for something to eat and ended up at KFC which I never eat at and won't again! Rooms are small but relatively clean, check in was fast friendly. Wifi was Ok. Bed was soft and shower is tiny with no place for anything in the bathroom. Basically as a place to crash for one night its fine, I cant see any other reason why people would stay here. I walked to the ferry the next day, about 15 minutes fast walk but not easy if you have any heavy bags,

From outside the hotel looks large. They have squeezed 44 rooms into this building and they are tiny. It was difficult for two people to move around at the same time. In addition, there was very little space to store anything, especially in the bathroom. So, better to stay only one night. A balcony was available with good view across bay but the mesh to the balcony gives the impression of a prison. Sleep quality poor as the a/c unit had to be kept running all night but was loud. Breakfast was basic: cereal, fruit, bread, cold meat and cheese available as well as fresh eggs, so you could cook them as you wanted. There is an independent restaurant within the same building, so no need to wander the barren streets for alternatives. Pointe-a-Pitre becomes a ghost town after 17.30, so best not to wander too far.…

Checked into Hotel Saint John Perse and assigned room on the 2nd floor. Small refrigerator in the room and a safe (need key to use). Nice size room, not a lot of lighting and only a couple of electrical outlets located low on the wall and behind things. AC operated by putting your room key in a slot. No way to adjust temperature (set on 22C). Bed comfortable, but pillows small and thin. Shower in tub. Water only Luke warm and tub floor very slippery. Hotel only a few blocks from the cruise terminal. Only a few miles from the airport, but expect to pay 20Euro for cab ride. TV on wall, but no controller to operate. Nice breakfast came with the room.

We arrived late to Guadeloupe, had a rental car, but were nervous to drive at night in a foreign country. So, we decided to book a hotel room at the closest hotel to the airport. What a run down place!!!! The door didn't lock, the bathroom door didn't lock. Everything was so old and dirty looking. My husband got bitten by maybe bed bugs all night. I probably did too, but I was too tired to notice. The room smelled like mold and had a leak mark on the ceiling. I think this was "the bad eye" of Guadeloupe. I would rather sleep outside on the street than have a room at this hotel next time!!!!It was depressing spending a night there! Never again!!!!!!!

I've been to a lot of hotels but this one is as wierd as it gets. The shower gets warm that's it. The Wi-Fi if you can get it to work only works in general areas,Not in the room. There s a restaurant downstairs ummm let's just say that was the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. 1 rat and many roaches. I will not return thank you.

We arrived very late and as we had a rental car were grateful for the help of a good Samaritan in finding the place. At first the clerk could not find our prepaid reservation. The room was ok, clean and had a quiet AC. Wifi worked only in the lobby. The buffet breakfast with added cost was quite good and included maker your own egg dish. The hotel is located in a business/residential area that looks rough at the edges.

Very close to the centre of Pointe a Pitre. Many shops around. Cruise terminal at walking distance. The hotel looks old and is expensive for a 2 star hotel 100 Euro/night. It also needs serious improvement, but it's ok for one night before embarkation on a cruise ship. It's about 7.5 km away from the airport. We took a taxi from the airport and we paid 25 Euro for 2 adults and 1 child.

Even though I could not speak French, everyone was very helpful. My son spoke French so he was my translator everywhere we went. The room was basic, clean, and comfortable. The location of the hotel is perfect, we were within walking distance of everything. The only negative was November 1st is a holiday and we did not take that into consideration, all the stores were closed. Anyway, it was our mistake but we still managed to do a tour of the island with family. The two gentlemen that works the night shift were very patient and friendly. Valerie the manager was very friendly and always smiling, expecially when she found out that my son is a boat captain just like her son. Will definitely be back!

My visit to this property left me feeling a bit like I had a Graham Greene experience. The hotel is located on a quite harbor in a backwater Caribbean city. Old Town Pointe-a-Petre is filled with rambling, and in some cases, collapsing buildings. Picturesque, to say the least. The hotel is modern, located a reasonable distance from the airport and is minimally staffed by helpful people. The Wi-Fi did not work, the television was hopeless, the ac was so-so and parking was frustrating. Also there was construction in the hall. However it was a laid back experience with friendly clerks who tried to be helpful. It was quiet and the room had a refrigerator, telephone and a balcony with a view. The cost was about 100 euros. There is a small shop around the corner where you can purchase food and wine. The location in the old town was a mixed blessing. It bustles during the day but at dusk they roll up the sidewalks. Even the MacDonalds on Rue Frebault closes at 7 pm. (Rue Frebault T-intersects with the quai in front of the hotel.) It was a Monday evening and everything was closed except an outside Indian café near the hotel and a hole in the wall sandwich place across from MacDonalds about 8 blocks away. It is "Damas" and they serve wonderful sandwiches but close at 9 pm. All I all it was a good stay and I recommend it for a night or so.…

We spent one night, before embarking o a 1 week cruise. it was mainély chosen, being very near to the port. It was very economic, no luxury, but clean, basic equipment, good self-service breakfast and could leave the luggages behind for a day. Good value for money.
