Windchimes was a cute little hidden gem a short walk from the beach (~3 min walk). The street over had lots of cute restaurants and cafes. Overall, great location. Some downfalls were , lots of construction, air conditioner sounded like dripping water noises, and our room had no windows. Very nice staff, many outdoor sitting areas, small pool. We also had access to the sister hotel, which had a slightly bigger pool that was heated (and felt like a hot tub!) Free access to beach towels and filtered water with cone cups. We enjoyed scootering around Puerto Rico, highly recommended downloading the bird app to scooter for yourself . Great spring break with my girls!

Very nice and accommodating staff. Convenient to restaurants and beach. Quick ride from/to airport. Small but nice pool. Lack of towels is an issue. Lot of weed being smoked around there, but not intrusive. We felt safe on site and in the neighborhood

My husband stayed here on a business trip. It was appalling. Broken wires, doors etc. Dirty inside and out. He had to ask for clean towels and was treated like a criminal for asking. Bedding was never changed during his week long stay, and he got bitten to pieces by bed bugs. How this place remains in business is a mystery.

Good location but I wish it had parking. The staff was appreciated. I found a sign for a massage which I really needed. The massage was incredible! It was worth every penny! Look for the sign at the bar.

This is not a place I would recommend to anyone. I was not welcomed as a proper guest services would normally display. I arrived a few minutes before the official check-in time of 4:00 pm and was told to come back after. I asked why and was told it was too early to check-in. After pointing out that it was almost time, the attendant suddenly noticed that a room was available. I went in to the room and, after a long day of travel, the first thing I needed was a good shower. OMG! It was cold! I tried to adjust the faucet to be sure that I was turning it on properly (and hoping it would not fall off because it was flimsy). I let it run for a very long time but then I gave up and had a very quick and uncomfortable shower. I then went to the reception and the people at the counter told me "that's the way it is". I asked if I could have another room and they ignored my request. After a while, one of the attendants came to my room and played with the faucet for a while until the water was somewhat tepid. This place is not comfortable nor is it clean, not to mention the poor attitude of the staff. What a disgrace!

This hotel is the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Cleanliness isn’t even on their list of things to do! From our flight we went straight to the hotel to check in. It was four and there shouldn’t have been any issues but we immediately ran into the fact that the hotel had lost the key from the previous traveler. So we had to wait for them to find a key for us to use. They ended up giving us the master key, which didn’t even open the front door to the hotel, that was a whole other annoyance of having to ring the bell and half the time people weren’t even there to open the door. As we walked into our room and started unpacking I noticed still dried up toothpaste in the sink from the previous travelers. There was a loose strand of hair from them as well on the counter. So do they even clean in between travelers?!?? My boyfriend went Down and made them wear aware of how filthy the room was. Other guest waiting around for their rooms to be cleaned as well. I noticed that the lampshade was pretty moldy and inside the lampshades, on the walls and door were drippings of God knows what! JUST FILTHY!! If you don’t care AT ALL about cleanliness-this is the hotel for you! If your don’t care about customer service- this is the hotel for you! The small pool is shared with 2 other sisters hotels, so it will get crowded. The only good place about this hotel is the surrounding area. It’s really close to the beach, really cute local shops, grocery stores, and good restaurants. The hotel itself I would never recommend to family or friends!

My friend and I arrived too early to check in, so after 20 hours of flying, we asked if we can check in a bit earlier. Reception agreed to let us check in a couple hours early. We tried to get into the building but nobody was at front desk to open the door and nobody was answering the phone. A guest leaving the property let us in. The receptionist was very rude to us. My friend wanted to unload on this rude girl but I played peacemaker. I was nice, grateful and complimentary to her but she continued to be abrupt, snappy and passive aggressive. Our toilet got blocked. My friend went to reception to let them know. They wrote our room number down and did nothing. About 2 hours later, I went to reception to inform them about the toilet. Again, they wrote the room number down and did nothing. On our way out to the beach, we saw housekeeping. We asked them to make up our room. They said 'yes'. They did not make up our room. 4 Hours after we left for the beach, I came back to the Windchimes to use the loo. The toilet was still blocked!! I spoke to Ricardo at reception about this. I also told him about the level of service we had been receiving. Ricardo told me he has told some members of staff that they don't have the attributes/personality for the hospitality. I agreed. Ricardo told me the housekeeping/maintenance team had left for the day. He went and got a plunger and unblocked the toilet in less than a minute! While I was out, I picked a piece of Aloe Vera and put it in my bag, which had one of the hotel towels in it. The Aloe Vera left a brown mark on the towel. When I got back home to the UK, I was charged £72.50 from my card from Windchimes. I called to ask what this was about and they told me it was for stains on 4 towels!! Windchimes and I are currently in a back-and-forth about the towels. I told them that I know they are lying and that I can't believe they have the nerve to extort me, especially after the shabby service they gave us as guests. I still have not received an apology for the bad service and they are maintaining the lie that 4 towels were damaged. FYI, Aloe Vera washes out from clothing. The location is great. The size of the rooms is great. The shower was terrible, no shower head, and takes for ever to get remotely warm. Our toilet also got blocked when no foreign objects were put in the loo. Avoid this place at all costs! Their owner is fighting bankruptcy and the staff seemed to have stopped giving a fudge about customer service, professionalism and business integrity a long time ago. They need money and have no class or dignity. That is a bad mix, hence them stealing money from my card so blatantly.

Response from Ivelisse Medina, General Manager at At Wind Chimes Boutique Hotel
Responded 4 May 2023
Thank you for taking your time to express you opinions about your experience. We understand the anger which has led you to write such unfounded accusations. However, the accusations you are making are very serious. Our establishment clearly established the penalties and charges for room and property damages. Without any proof, you are blindly accusing an establishment that might not have anything to do with the alleged unauthorized charges to your card. We ask you to refrain from this in the future as these accusations carry legal weight. The fact that you was charged for damages (for which we do have evidence) does not imply at any circumstances what you mentioned: steel, lie and awful services. Our Boutique Hotel takes pride on our Excellent Service, Safety and Security records and have not in the past 30 years since operating this hotel, encountered a situation like the one you have described of which you are making unfounded accusations. Also, all of our employees have been awarded by our Puerto Rico Tourism Company. We understand your frustration, but that does not give you the right to publicly accuse any establishment of stealing without any proof of such behavior on our part. You should not raise false accusations against anyone without proof. As they stand, your accusations are simple assumptions on your part. If we can be of any further assistance on your claim, our management team is always willing to help. Ivelisse Medina Manager

This hotel was booked on the road from Aguadilla to San Juan. That part was easy, they even have a nice, no charge till check in to attract people. We got there i was yold by the counter guy, no parking find parking where you can in the streets! I drove around this hotel for 20 min and saw zero parking. So we called to cancel snd left the area entirely. We tried to cancel with them they said call booking .com, Booking.com of course said it’s bot up to them that we should call the hotel back and to try and convince them to drop the cancellation. We called them back and they told us to call Booking .Com This has been the worst experience i have ever had, WORST IN BIG since it cost me a whopping $149 cancellation fee, ironically the same price they were charging us for the room! Yes they stole the money! I will make sure I promote both parties involved as such I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE! Customer service sucked, Parking None (good luck parking only), They will not refund money if you don't stay there! All this occurred in a 2 hour span! From calling to book to trying to cancel, beware these companies just want your money. Hotel At Wind Wind Chimes Boutique, San Juan, Puerto Rico and Booking. Com. Will never look there way again, deleting booking app forever! Till i rest my family and friends will know how horrible this experience was! The lack if trying to help us show, all they care about is getting your money. Will never book again without physically seeing the place. Hope this helps everyone trying to use those companies! #bookingdotcomSUCKS #AtWindChimesBoutiqueSUCKS

I wanted to stay at this hotel as several years ago I saw it and thought it looked nice. The staff there is friendly-we were allowed to put out bags under the staircase before checking in and after checking out. Unfortunately the outside bar was not operational-it would have been the perfect spot for drinks and appetizers. There was no housekeeping during the days we spent there, and we had to use the same towels the entire time. I asked about getting clean towels at least twice but was told there were no clean ones available. I do like the area..one block away from the beach and you can walk to restaurants and cafes. Would I stay here again? Not sure..the hotel rooms feel worn and if I’m staying at a hotel I want clean towels and the room cleaned. Otherwise may just as well do a Vrbo.

PROS: our double queen room was clean and spacious, staff we encountered were friendly enough, location is good for walking to many restaurants and convenience stores as well as the beach, there is access to the sister property down the street, pool is small but pretty, check-in/out was easy but we arrived and left during regular business hours. generally felt safe in this area, A/C worked well enough, phone was answered when we called, mini fridge and microwave in room CONS: street parking only and space is very limited, wifi was spotty at best and disconnected every few minutes regardless of what device we were on, no elevator or assistance with luggage, bar/restaurant was never open, rooms are NOT soundproof in any way.... people drive by blasting loud music and revving their engines at all hours of the day and night and it is LOUD (for real don't stay here with a baby/young child), housekeeping never made an appearance, some decor and lighting was in need of repair, not wheelchair accessible, no coffee maker in room OTHER: mattresses are very firm which is good for some; our room had a doorknob placard for "Maid Service Please" but we would put it on our door and no one ever came. Eventually we had to ask for clean towels and only then did we learn that we were expected to bring our dirty towels downstairs before we could get new ones to bring upstairs. This wouldn't have been an issue if we had been told up front and knew the procedure but we were never told at check in so it was frustrating. Not sure what the point of the placard was. OVERALL: it was ok, good enough for our needs as 2 adults who really only needed a place to sleep but would not recommend for families with young children or lots of things to carry in and out every day as you never know where you will be able to park. NOT a place for light sleepers.
