OK, the place may be a dump, but OMG, the fish tacos and a margarita go down easy. Couldn't understand why our tour guide had steered the cruise excursion to this out of the way spot. However, she insisted the fish taco was one of the existensial experiences of "The Ensenada Way" and dang if she wasn't right. Beautiful views... More

We recently stayed at la Fonda again and I must say this place has really gone downhill, The food was never that exquisite there but this time the bill was like a Michelin+ star restaurant and the quality of food and service were deplorable. My family and I have been down here a dozen times and it was never the... More

If you want the Ritz, this is the wrong place. This is for people that want that laid back experience. The dolphins come in and entertain like clock work. The food is great local stuff. One of our favorite places to go.

Knew that La Fonda would not be an upscale place and so our expectations were not at that level. What we found though was a living nightmare. The room was okay as far as the way it was arranged but every piece of furniture had stains on it, blinds were broken, doors didnt work, cobwebs with spiders (which means it... More

Twenty years ago my family stayed at this charming hotel, and I hadn't been back since. I was apprehensive, but it seemed like little had changed. If you're looking for a sanitized corporate hotel, don't bother coming here. If you want good value and a real Mexican experience, check it out. The restaurant has great food, and the ambiance is... been going for years but I feel like things are gong down hill ambiance- The views are amazing, but place is a bit dirty and grimy now. My breakfast plate and coffee cup both were chipped. Our waiters apron was beyond dirty. food- Had my regular (Chili Colorado) and it tasted great but I have to admit I was worried... More

There was a previous review claiming they had bed bugs. Well, I believe the same thing happened to us a week ago when we stayed at La Fonda Hotel. We only stayed one night, but when my girlfriend and I went to get in bed there was sand in the sheets. Obviously nobody washed the sheets and the bed was... More

This is for the famous Sunday brunch. We had it and you can not ask for a better meal for the price. It is $13.95 and includes coffee, bloody Mary or margaritas. They have all types of Mexican foods to omelets, pancake to ribs to soups to dessert. We had excellent service with plenty of coffee refills and took our... More

This is just for the restaurant. I may have low expectations, but I thought it was a nice meal and an overall pleasant experience. It was a warm atmosphere. The band was subdued and nice. Our waiter was helpful and not intrusive. We compared the view to a fond time at the Kapalua Bay Club on Maui back in the... More

CONS - Parking is super tight, like my car had to fit 3" on either side to avoid hitting a mid sized truck and the wall. Room was kinda cramped for three(room#6) no AC sliding screen door was tweeked and allowed bugs in. No tv, only three towels given no wash cloths. Hotel soap seriously stunk(did not smell good, more... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Just as American-style Las Rocas has its staunch devotees, many are loyal to La Fonda, a place for people who truly want to get away from it all. The rustic rooms don't come with minibars, state-of-the-art TVs, or phones. What they do have is an adventuresome appeal unlike that of any other northern Baja coast resort. Relaxation and romance are the key words at this small hotel and restaurant, which opened in the 1950s and hasn't changed a whole lot since. (http://www.frommers.com) ... more   less
