We had always been scornful of all inclusive resorts but my husband had booked a two night stay in this resort on the northern beaches of Mazatlán as a surprise birthday present. We live in Mazatlán so it was a kind of busman's holiday. We were first impressed by the reception rooms with their almost three storey high ceilings and... More

This hotel was fantastic. I think some people are just incapable of having a good time. The food and alcohol were heavily accessable and really good. I personally(and my girlfriend) thought the food was awesome. I would order more beer to my room and the guy would be there in under 2 mins and 2 mins later the lobby would... More

We spent one week. May 13-20 2012 at the RIU Emerald Bay. Due to safety concerns put out by the US state department, we had considered cancelling our trip, however we decided to go but be cautious in what we did. We left all of our jewelry at home and are not the type to stay out late and party... More

Check-in: slow but the welcome drink made up for it Room: very clean, bed was sooo comfortable, amazing oceanview Staff: very accommodating and polite, I was impressed with the service here, issues were fixed very promptly Food: buffet was good for an all inclusive. The a la carte Japanese restaurant did not live up to expectations. Loved the coconut water... More

We stayed 5/5-5/7/2012. We expected the service to be exceptional but we had to go and get our own drinks and food. Horrible margaritas! There are no bathrooms in the restaurants. Restaurant are only open depending on the occupancy of the hotel. We had only 2 choices, the buffet food was horrible; even the beans were watery. The Chinese rest.... More

The food: I thought the buffet food was quite good, however unless you are an early riser you will never eat anything other than the buffet. Riu assigns the restaurant seat by reservation each morning. The desk opens at 7AM and I was told they are fully booked by 8:30AM usually. Plus, who wants to wait in a line in... More

We were at the RIU from February 18-26 2012 and did travel with a 17 year old and a 2 year old The hotel overall was really good which is expected with a RIU property. Very easy to get around to all areas - retaurants, pools, lobby, sports bar, lounges, and of course the fantastic beach. There are plenty of... More

Riu Emerald in Mazatlan had everything a girl could want on a holiday. Rooms were clean and each room faced the oceanfront which was great. Girlfriend and I arrived on April 14 to the 21. Food was excellent, service was exceptional, and the martini bar was my favorite place to end the evening. Mikey the bartender is second to no... More

Long review, but covers a lot! We stayed btw April 19 and 26, and it was a fantastic place, with its many pros and a few cons. The first all-inclusive for both of us, so all we had to go on was checking out other Tripadvisor reviews. We came away thinking that everyone who had praised this place definitely had... More

I know, I know. When most of us read a review saying that someone stole from their hotel room, we think that it will not happen to us. I read the reviews and thought...oh well some drunk person left their wallet behind and can't find it. I brought my mother and 2 sons to stay at this hotel for a... More
