This is an excellent central hostel and the two owners just could not be more helpful. I had the top room with a wonderful view and it was spotlessly clean but the drains did smell in the very clean bathroom. One has to be good at iron steps to get there but 100% worth it. More

The friendly service from start to finish made this a great stay. With a room off the rooftop terrace, the climb up to the room was worth it every time. The hosts help you get around, give great recommendations, and make you feel at home. The location puts you right in the downtown area. The hotel is easy to find... More

You need to still have some of that backpacking spirit to get the most out of Casa Bertha. We do, so we were able to overlook the fact that the bathroom door was a repurposed shower door and appreciate the room with private bath and kitchenette (see photo) in a place with gracious, helpful owners, right off a small plaza... My boyfriend and I stayed in one of the rooms just off the roof terrace and had a great stay. Jorge and Juan are the most lovely, helpful guys ever ! They looked after us very well and were always smiley and polite even when we arrived at 5am. The room was large and had lots of space for our... More

First I want to say that both Juan and Jorge (property managers) are very nice people and helpful and will make your stay in the city a very pleasant stay. The place is located near main center just a couple minutes from el teatro Juarez. It has a nice terrace with a beautiful view of the amazing city. However, they... More

I went there for a three day to Guanajuato, its a perfect place to stay because its near the heart of all the activities that happens in Guanajuato, the only thing is to arrive there, you have to get though a narrow uphill street, that can get you a little tired (this is for people that maybe had an accident... I arrived in Guanajuato by bus with no reservation and asked a cabbie to help me find a room for the night. He found me Casa Bertha. The price was right: Only 180 pesos. It also had a great location - about a 2 minute walk from Jardin Union. The room was ugly, the walls were paper thin, and I... More

We recently spent 15 days in the Bajio area of central Mexico. We both started and ended our trip in Guanajuato and stayed both times at the Casa Bertha. We did so partly since my grandmother was named Bertha but mainly for the good reviews on Trip Advisor and some guide books. We e-mailed the hotel and Juan answered back.... More

I spent so much time looking to rent a house for my family of 5, as I wanted to have a kitchen for small meals (breakfast & lunch). All the places were either expensive and / or far away. Then I found Casa Bertha on tripadvisor! We stayed at Casa Bertha for 5 nights between Christmas and New Years and... More

Having stayed at Casa Bertha no fewer than 10 times since 2003, I feel qualified to comment on this unique casa de huespedes. I travel Mexico on the cheap (about $50 USD daily for food, lodging and travel) and have found CB to be an exceptional value. Thanks to Norma, the hard-working cleaning person, the whole place is immaculate. Jorge... More
