Casa Vieja is a charming and colourful example of an old Mexican house, with tasteful and appropriate room furnishings. The staff are very friendly and made you feel very welcome. The rooftop restaurant, under a bamboo slatted roof, was a beautiful area with a well stocked bar and ferns and greenery to add to the atmosphere. The location is perfect... More

Rooms are outdated and AC doesn't function. Service is average. Hotel Restraunt is average for the price. The hotel owners family and their friends are often loud and drinking in the restaurant which makes it uncomfortable for guests. Rooms are overpriced. Much better hotels in same Polanco neighborhood. I’ve stayed at this hotel a few dozen times over the last several years and have always had great experiences. While I am not always able to stay at this hotel (often booked solid) when I visit Mexico City, it is my favorite in the Polanco area. As other reviewers have noted, this is a boutique hotel – it looks... More

My stay in the Casa Vieja was really like staying in an old house. The house is complete with all the artistic details put in over a long period of time by a loving owner and all the incompetent maintenance of utilities overlooked by the seemingly ageing and senile owner. Upon my late night arrival, I was greeted by five... More

We were off to the Cuernavaca area for a week and wanted to stay in Mexico City for the first night. Friends recommended Casa Vieja. Sent a couple of e-mails to the hotel in late December asking about availability and phoned the desk a couple of times to follow up. My e-mails weren't answered and the people on the desk... More

Under new management and clearly no idea how to run a hotel - faulty airconditioning, sodden carpets, dank musty smell, little natural light, snacks in room beyond expiry date - prepaid room not refunded - staff untrained, dishonest, unhelpful. More

We had a very pleasant 3 day stay at Casa Vieja. Often the term "Boutique" is applied to hotels that are simply small, this however is truly boutique experience. Small yes, but also intimate and with excellent service. We didn't get off to a good start when we arrived late to be greeted by the security guard. A nice chap... More

we had planned to spend our 20th anniversary at this hotel, made reservations 30 days before travelling and then got stuck in Guatemala City with airport closed for a week due to the ashes from nearby volcano; we were traveling on Mexicana de Aviacion which canceled all flight for that week and then got bankrupt; we sent Casa Vieja a... Was looking forward to staying in this unique property but unfortunately they decided to dishonour my reservation two days prior to my trip. It seems as though the warnings about new (mis)management were true. More

It breaks my heart to have to write this review for such a beautiful boutique hotel that I've stayed at many times over the past few years. However, I would strongly advise anyone against staying at this hotel due to a recent experience I had there. After a wonderful long weekend, upon checkout I paid for my stay but after... More
