Although I did not stay at Monte Carlo on this trip, I took advantage of being downtown to revisit and see how it had held up since my last stay about 15 years ago (21 nights). It was remarkably unchanged.
The hotel is superbly priced and strategically located for travelors more interested in budget and history than in prestige and...

In 20 years, I have stayed here 4 times. I am still loyal to the Monte Carlo but must admit that it needs some help. During my first 3 visits, the interior was verdant with palms, calla lilies and other plants. Now, the few palms left need a friend with a green thumb. This last time, I got a room...

I just returned from a two week trip to Mexico and stayed in the Hotel Monte Carlo coming and going and have stayed there several times in the past. This time, in Room 116, which is really the second floor, has four double beds, the bed bugs attacked me! I looked like I had the measles on inside both arms,...

As a flight attendant I travel the world for a living. I spend several weeks here every year since 1998. Request a room with a small balcony with a door that opens over the Avenue( Rep. de Uruguay). the owner is usually very friendly and helpful. This hotel is very basic, some have tv's others not. It is usually well-kept,...
