Although we have stayed at the camino real oaxaca before we didn't write a review partly because most of the comments (extra charge for wifi etc) are below. However we recently had our civil ceremony there and it was amazing. For anyone looking for a unique and special wedding ceremony this is the place. The staff were impeccable, in particular... More

We stayed at this hotel on Apr 17th and 18th, 2012. Check in was fast and efficient. The gentleman at the desk set us up with a map highlighted all the sites we came to see. All other staff interaction were friendly, but once checked in the front desk staff did not really want to be bothered with us. The... More

We had a very pleasant 6 night stay. Room was on a quiet courtyard, service was excellent (nightly turn-down with chocolates, prompt room cleaning, etc.) Very courteous staff. However, in-room WiFi was only available as an added charge, bottled water was an added charge (44 pesos), and a small Limonada in the bar was also 44 pesos. Breakfast buffet was... More

Its always so immediatly apparent when a hotel is being poorly managed. The staff has no spark which leaves quite a few bad first impressions. I was approached twice during the check in process to buy activities. The bell person informed us that the water bottle was free but extra water was additional. Well, I can live with that. Then... Staying here for two nights The hotel is beautiful and public areas great The rooms are old. Tv signal very poor, tub not working and they charge for internet. The whatever brand of water in the room is 44 but maybe thats normal Go for the beauty of the building but not for five star treatment More

Very good hotel, pricey but good and it delivers what you expect for the price. My room Was noisy as it was on street level and the windows were next to the sidewalk where there was great activity all night (traffic, people yelling, trash cans being dragged...) that made it very hard to have a nice sleep, so pick your... If you are having a wedding, then this is the hotel for you. Whilst we stayed , three weddings went underway at once. If however you are not having a wedding or are not part of a wedding party then as far as the staff are concerned, you are invisible and of no consequence. The rooms are very large and... More

We had heard that some of the rooms were noisy and so had requsted a quiet room via our tour company (Cox & Kings, who do actually pass on requests!). The hotel made a special effort to meet our needs. The original interior room had no windows (except on the door), which was fair enough as the others are in... More

Went to this magnificent hotel for a weekend - the setting is a 16th century monastery, the room are very beautiful but...they were really not meant to be hotel rooms so recommended ask for a room on the inside not on the street because the noise really comes into the rooms and ventilation is very poor ( remember this is... Stayed here for a few nights in February after a long drive back from the coast and loved every minute. Very romantic setting next to an old cathedral. Lovely poolside dining and ultra comfortable room with super high vaulted ceiling. More
