There are some major pluses to staying at Cenote Encantado: * Free access to the cenote, for swimming, snorkeling and boating. * Free rafts for use on the cenote * Easy access to the beach - 2 minute walk down a narrow path between two beach-side resorts (small resorts, very quiet places) * Free bikes to use (though they are... Avoid. Like the plague. Owner met us in a speedo, gave my girlfriend an unwelcome and overly long full frontal hug, and wouldn't even speak to me, but invited her to stay "forever". torn and leaky tents, 5 feet apart, unmaintained outhouses that are extremely close to the tents, and the "yoga space" is perpetually occupied by the frequently nude... We stayed here because we only needed a few hours sleep before we took off very early to Si'an Kaan and Punta Allen. It is cheap compared to other places in Tulum - and you get what you pay for. It looks better at the webpage than in real life - and when we were recieved by the owner to... More

I found Galia and Pedro perfect hosts as well as extremely interesting people. Cenote Encantado is a breath of fresh air at the end of the hotel zone. The communial kitchen was spotlessly clean and the tent was very comfortable and the shower was excellent. I did use the boat and rowed out to the middle of the cenote for... More

Cenote Encantado is a camping villiage a little more than 10km from the junction down the Boca Paila Highway. It's about 1/2km past Om (which you can't miss) on the right. They now have a sign displaying their name, so that helps a lot in finding the place. Most cab drivers don't know it. The village honors your privacy. No... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
WELCOME TO ENCHANTED CENOTE! Who we are... Cenote Encantado (Enchanted Cenote) is a getaway to peace. Our initiative is rooted in the concept and daily practice of activities which compliment the environment. It is a concept which provides us with physical, mental and spiritual development. For us, being ecology oriented isn't just a trend or some scheme to attract green-minded visitors. We think that loving and protecting the environment is a way of life. For this reason it is our priority to share this consciousness to the furthest extent of our abilities. We actively look for people who can enlighten us with new ideas and make this magical place a center of relationships and contacts, which visitors can use as a mechanism to go forward with their own new alternative network. CAMPING VILLAGE: This is an experimental project we've been working on with lots of love and patience. Our power of union is representative of life's natural sacred union. What unites us is the willingness and personal power to share our concepts with those who show the same inclination for this way of life. You can help us to maintain this little flame of hope and semblance of order, of zen, with everything we come in contact with around us. Our challenges are your challenges as we take care of this sacred Enchanted Cenote together... Truth be told, this isn't a big business or materialistic oriented project. More like the antithesis, our project is based on a principle of self sufficiency and lessons of service and coexistence.  Self sufficiency is the ability to live gathering strength from the things that inspire you, things that compliment your new alternative lifestyle. It's called perma-culture, art, and taking care of the place you love. Healing, protecting the environment, education, recycling, manual arts and ecological tourism, etc... all are available here. A place made for... * people who have the idea to connect with the mystery of nature, who want to learn and help others experience it.* Those who hold the knowingness and awareness that there is an entire family, alive and invisible, moving in secret while being transparent.* those who have been touched by the flames of the sacred fire and have been empowered by their vision. Here at Cenote Encantado a gateway to peace, culture and communion awaits you... OUR TENTS Many tents are available equipped with beds, sheets, a rug and bedside table. All have electricity and a fan inside for your comfort. We also have ambient music every afternoon.OUR PRICES:*These prices are in Mexican pesos, and are per person per night. DECEMBER JANUARY $200 pesos, FEBRUARY MARCH APRIL $180 pesos, MAY JUNE $160 pesos, JULY AUGUST $180 pesos, SEPTEMBER OCTOBER $ 140 pesos, NOVEMBER $160 pesos. ... more   less
