First the good: the staff are really friendly and laid-back, and the cafe attached to the hostel is cute and has reasonably priced food. The bad: the place is FILTHY - the whole thing needs to be hosed down and scrubbed. The towels and sheets are old and worn, and the pillow was flat as a rock. There are no... More

The North End of Halifax is a unique and vibrant neighbourhood and you would truly be missing out if you didn't find a way to work it into your visit here. Halifax is a great city for walking and the Backpackers is very central. I spent 4 nights at the Backpackers in January. The staff is friendly and helpful. Michelle-... More

I stayed for two nights at Halifax Backpackers. I have eaten at the cafe when in Halifax before and know that it is delicious gem of the city. So, it came as no surprise to have such a warm and welcoming stay at the backpackers. Michelle was wonderful and ensured that the stay was perfect and treated us like family!... More

It is very well located and has good sound proofing. I detested the fact that the smell of dirty socks killed me every night for 3 nights :( I am not sure if that was because of poor ventilation or poor hygiene. A very busy but very clean. More

This Place immediately made me feel like i was back home in my best friends house were everything is designed to be used and enjoyed, plus no one is worried about anything. The people here aren't tour guides since tour[ist] based establishments undermine the character of a city causing a city to be a booklet instead of a story, but... More

Accommodation here was well priced, the food at the cafe was delicious, and the environment was cozy. The staff were great about giving recommendations for things to see in the city, as well as being very involved in the local community. They have a lovely family unit there - it truly felt like home. The hostel is quite busy and... More
