The room was a lot more basic than we expected. The furniture and appliances were garage sale quality. The room smelled like moth balls. Hallways and elevators are like a run down rental building. We also had to deal with no air conditioning as the building was having it serviced. I called the office and they said they would arrange... More

My best friend and I just got back from a weekend in Toronto. I had never been there and she hadn't been back in over 20 yrs. For the price we figured we just needed a place to crash and leave our stuff and this place left us a lot more money to spend on "other" activites. After reading more... More

As someone whose family had immigrated to Toronto several times during my youth, I have to say finding the Glen Grove at Yonge was like finding a home from home. Although I have family in Toronto, I have already chosen to stay at the Glen grove on my last 3 visits, and am due to return in May 2012 for... More

I stayed at Glen Grove with my wife and our little dog. Despite some bad reviews on this website, we decided to keep our choice, which in the end proved to be correct. Before talking about the hotel, it is important to understand that Glen Grove is not a traditional hotel, but a specialty lodge, which has a different modus... More

We had stayed for 11 days before we could find an apartment after arrival in Toronto. It was far down from what we expected from a 3-star average hotel. A malodorous, dirty building with no monitoring on arrivals late night (very unsafe), a broken old elevator (surprisingly they posted proudly a notice on the wall that it was one of... More

While it's not five star, if you want the ability to cook your own meals, have access to some remarkable Toronto trail systems and access to great dining and shopping plus nearby subway...stay here. Yes, there are some provisos. Make sure your room is far from the antiquated elevator, preferably with no bedroom facing Yonge St. and on the upper... More

We chose the Glen Grove based on info and pictures on their web site. We stayed for one night in August. I was travelling with wife, sister in law and two neices. We had booked a two bedroom with a hide a bed. The first room we were shown was filthy, worn out and no hide a bed. After visiting front... More

Pros: 1. Good neighbourhood (Lawrence Park area with Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens nearby and 10 minutes walk to Lawrence Station) 2. Friendly and helpful management and staff (reception, housekeeping). 3. Toronto Star & National Post complimentary newspapers. 4. High-speed internet (about 8Mbps download speed) Cons 1. Overpriced. Price doesn't match the quality. About $100/night if you stay for one month... More

Loved the proximity of the hotel as it is just on the outskirts of downtown but only a five or 10 minute drive. LOVED that they accepted dogs, being a dog owner myself it is very difficult to find places that accept them. Our suite was fantastic, very historic with the setup and was very surprised that it had a... More
