I have mixed feelings about our recent stay. When we arrived we were told we couldn’t park in the secured garage because we had studded tires and it’s a rule all across Quebec, we didn’t know this, but it’s understandable. They had us park in a dark unsecured outdoor parking lot up the street that they let on was safe. On the second night our CRV was stolen! When we brought our concerns to the front desk it was pushed off and they didn’t care what so ever until the police arrived so we could file a report about my car. How they responded to our car being stolen left a very bad impression. After the police left We dealt with another staff member (supervisor) and they then offered to give us an extra night for free while we tried to find a rental (we were stranded there, 8 hours from home and finding a one way rental on a Sunday was almost impossible!) So we were very grateful for that. I would recommend this hotel, but I would be extremely careful when parking your vehicle and don’t trust the “safe” outdoor parking.

Very well-located hotel, near Metro and walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops. Indoor heated pool, and decent exercise room. Valet parking at $35/day with in-and-out privileges. The rooms are incredibly spacious and come equipped with a kitchenette. Staff are friendly. Basically, lots of thing to like. However, there are two issues worth mentioning here: 1. The wifi service. Like most hotels, they provide free wifi with a login code. However, unlike most hotels I have stayed in, they are somewhat stingy with how many devices can be connected on the code. When I first connnected my phone to the wifi, I got a message saying I had room for two more devices. If you are a solo traveler this is probably irrelevant. But if you are a larger family, particularly with teenagers who have their own smartphones, you may get complaints. By the time my wife and 17-year-old daughter had hooked up their own smartphones, there was no room left for me to connect my laptop. I tried de-connecting my cell phone in order to free up space for the laptop, but it seemed like once I connected a device, that connection is not transferable to a different device. I called down to the front desk to ask about getting a different code for other devices, and they automatically raised my device count to 10 from the original 3. Why not just make it 10 to begin with? If the wifi network is not capable of handling more devices for everyone....upgrade your network. Weird. Then, on day 2 of our stay, the original code stopped working. When I asked for a new code, they promptly gave me one - but back to the original 3-device limit. This seems unnecessarily annoying for guests. 2. The continental breakfast. The food itself is good quality, and there was plenty of fresh fruit which was nice. However, the layout of the food is crammed into one corner and with so many people in the breakfast space, all trying to do the same thing you're doing, navigating through the narrow channels with a tray in hand is crazy. If you can make it through that space without getting bumped by someone, kudos to you. We came late in the breakfast window, so maybe it's not like this if you arrive early. However, if it's always like this, then if I were management, I would re-design the space to have all of the food centrally located in the room, with tables around the outside, and wider paths all the way around. But all in all this is a great hotel and I would absolutely stay here again.

The family suite was very spacious which was perfect for our family of 5. Lots of times its hard to find hotels that will work for us without feeling like we are on top of each other, but not at Le Square Phillips - it was a mini apartment. The hotel location is also very convenient to lots of shops and restaurants. Will be back!

We visited in mid-week in late November and so the hotel and the downtown were not as busy as usual. It was so nice to have the hotel's pool to ourselves. Our room, with two double beds on the 10th floor, was well appointed and quite large. Our children enjoyed watching the construction of a new high-rise out of our window. The staff was very helpful.

We stayed at Le Square Phillips for three nights on our recent visit to Montreal. We chose it due to the affordable prices and the amazing reviews online, it turned out to be an excellent choice! The hotel is centrally located and just a few minutes walk from Gare Centrale. We arrived at around 4pm and were warmly welcomed by Karla who had us on our way to our room in no time. Our room on the 9th floor was a studio with two double beds and was absolutely massive for a downtown hotel. Although a bit older in style everything was clean and well-maintained. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of storage space, the air-conditioning worked well and there were gigantic windows which offered a lovely view of the nearby buildings. There was a fully functioning kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, washing machine, toaster and tea/coffee facilities. Although we didn't do any cooking in the room one particularly nice feature was the grocery list, where you could tick off a list of essential items you needed and drop it off at reception in the morning and they would deliver it later in the day and charge it to your room. The bathroom was nice as well, plenty of towels and toiletries were provided. It was a shower/bath combo but the curved shower rod ensured there was plenty of space. We did initially have a problem with the water not draining very well in the shower, however we called reception and the hotel handyman showed up within minutes. He was able to fix it very quickly and it was fine after that, so we were very happy with the quick turnaround to the problem. Housekeeping service was also very good and provided daily. In terms of amenities the hotel has a coin laundry, gym, pool and rooftop patio all on the top floor. All looked to be pretty good however the only one we used was the laundry. There were plenty of washing machines and dryers, all of which worked well and laundry powder was available free of charge at reception. Breakfast at the hotel is complimentary for all guests and is served in the breakfast lounge on the 2nd floor til 9:30am on weekdays and 10am on weekends. They have a reasonable selection of items available and lots of staff to clear tables and keep everything stocked. On the first day we arrived in the breakfast room when they were closing up, however they were happy for us to take a tray of things to our room instead and in fact we found most guests tended to do this rather than dine in. Highlights would have to be the bakery items which included cakes and great Montreal-style bagels. The location of the hotel is great, with lots of downtown attractions within walking distance. Old Montreal is a 10 minute walk downhill and there is an IGA in the Complexe Desjardins a couple of blocks down the road. It's also very easy to get taxis or Ubers should you wish to go further afield. So many great places to eat and drink in Montreal, some of my favourites would have to be Mon Lapin, Joe Beef, Toqué, Schwartz's, Fairmount Bagels, St-Viateur Bagels and Ma Poule Mouillée although I think you'd struggle to find a bad meal in this city! Check out again was good, the bill was promptly settled and they offered to hold our bags however we were ready to be on our way. Overall it was an enjoyable stay at Le Square Phillips. Staff were excellent, the complimentary breakfast was nice and the rooms were comfortable, with the issue we had with the shower promptly addressed. After staying here we stayed at the nearby InterContinental for one night and to be honest, Le Square Phillips was so much better. Would definitely recommend for visitors to Montreal!

Still can’t get over the size of our suite, it was massive! Huge bed, high ceilings, big sitting room and a spacious kitchen area. The bathroom was also huge and with two closets and multiple Drawers we had all the space we could need and more. We were on the 21st floor but you could still hear some street noise. The hotel itself is close to the old town and port, easily walkable. Would definitely stay here again. Make sure you opt for a lift room.

Front desk staff was helpful and friendly and our room was unexpectedly upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite the size of many people's apartment. Room 621 was very large and had good desk accommodations, good power connections and fast internet. We did not use the kitchen facilities. The bathroom was very large. Breakfast was adequate but crowded and had a full range of cereal, bread, yogurt, and juice but only hard boiled eggs, lunch meat and cheese, no hot food. For an upscale hotel, I would have expected a fancier breakfast. Even a Holliday Inn usually has a waffle maker and scrambled eggs. We enjoyed our stay but did not use many of the amenities that were available like the pool and workout room. I would stay here again if I was coming back to Montreal.

Great sized rooms, everywhere was very clean and tidy. Really nice pool, gym and terrace at the top of the building with fab views across the square. Good location, short walk from two Metro lines and the main train station. Breakfast is basic, but plentiful. Can get quite busy at times, but as I was still pretty much on UK time I got there early enough to be done before the rush.
