In March of 2011, my friend, Dave, and I finished our Peace Corps service in Peru and decided to travel home (through South and Central America) by bus instead of simply flying out like everyone else. For 2 1/2 months we backpacked through some amazing countries and saw some unforgettable sites. A friend had told us that once we got... More

There's not much that I can say that hasn't already been said. In short, we loved every minute at RdC. Stay here-- you will not be disappointed! We never did get over the beautiful view from our balcony-- just stunning. The delicious food, the tranquil setting, and Gina's friendly dogs were also highlights. One of the best places I have... Rarely have I had the unexpected pleasure of booking accommodation through an internet search and discovering, on arrival, that all of my already high expectations have been stunningly surpassed. Set on a hillside with long views to the cloud forest covered hills across the valley, our first surprise was the complete tranquility. There is no sight or sound of human... More

We stayed two nights at Rancho de Caldera in late May and regretted not being there longer. Stunningly beautiful property with very private and spacious cabins. We booked cabin #4 and couldn't have been more pleased. All the amenities anyone could possibly need. Waking up with such a gorgeous view across the valley was a real treat. Relaxing on the... More

This was our second visit and we found everything as good or better than the first. Craig's preperations for dinner were creative and delicious. The lunch menu had changed somewhat but the items were all good, especially the home made pastrami with seasoned fries and home made ketchup. Had to slow down on the lunch so we could enjoy the... Caldera ranch, caldera, boquete (April 2012) We were expecting great things from this place but to be honest we were a little disappointed. The reception that we received from the owner (Gina) throughout our stay was neither warm nor friendly. Refreshingly, Craig (the renowned chef), as well as all the other staff, were the complete the opposite. we came away... More

I apologize for any perceived lack of warmth or friendliness on my part; I make every effort to insure that all of my guests are happy at Rancho and enjoy getting to know my guests.  Clearly I personally failed this time, though I am happy that my staff did their job in that regard.  I would appreciate more specific feedback... Went for lunch. Small selection of very clever and delicious meals. They are sandwiches, but are much more.... Really good. Hard to describe. Fresh ingredients, in a very odd combination. Watermelon and Mexican bean style salad? Yup, that can be very tasty. Another Boring quinoa salad? Not here! Also, try the basil lemon juice.... The setting is fabulous. Feels like... More

My wife and I visited Rancho de Caldera with our two friends from Boquete the other afternoon. After a refreshing swim in their infinity pool, we are treated to a fabulous 5 course meal comprable or better than anything one would find in the finest 5 star restaurants anywhere. Craig, the chef, is extraordinarily talented. Each course contained delicious ingredients... More

Last week, I completed a rather arduous journey from my home in Pennsylvania to visit a former college roommate who had moved there seven years earlier. After a series of travel misadventures, including missed connections, an unexpected overnight stay in Panama City, and a final long, late night drive in the rain and fog, we arrived at Rancho de Caldera...
