Just the most terrible night ever! Grumpy receptionist in trackie bottoms, horrible decor and smell of fried food. Nowhere to relax and told very rudely that there was no reception so no TV - we live locally, we know you can get reception - this was a moneysaving ploy as the TV sockets were in the rooms and had very... I've read other reviews of this place and I have to say - you can't please all of the people all of the time!! Went to Clennell for a Groupon bought Orienteering/Bootcamp day with my friend, first impressions... .wow! what a building, ornate and traditional, lovely. grounds fabulous. Staff friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, I understand it... More

What a mistake! We stayed with Groupon, as did, I think, most of the other guests. First impression of the Hall itself is fantastic, along with the spacious gardens. The staff, of which we saw only two, were very pleasant and helpful and I suspect rather overworked - as they seemed to not only cover reception, but serve in the... More

We stayed at this hotel at the end of March 2012 for an overnight stay using a Groupon voucher. We had been recommended it by a work colleague who had stayed there 2 years previously so were looking forward to our stay. I don't know if in that time there had been a change in management / ownership but it... More

You will either love or loathe this place. We absolutely loved it. Not pristine or up market but very welcoming, relaxing, laid back and in beautiful surroundings. Paid £54 for 2 in double room with breakfast. Large room with lovely king/queen sized comfortable bed and wonderful views (room 6). Large en suite bathroom - not immaculately clean (floor was very... All in all a lovely hotel apart from 2 things 1st the cleaner/cook/receptionist/generalbees body (an elderly lady rude and snappy) we came to the hotel and she was on the reception and was very rude and was trying to rush us. We were shown to room 3 and after packing we were having a lie down when a hover started... More

Had a really good time at this hotel. The hotel was warm and comfortable, the staff very friendly .Food plain but well cooked and plenty of it. It was great not to have a tv in our room or a mobile signal. More

We too stayed at Clennell Hall last year, sorry for the late review but on reading the reviews below I feel I had to write this: The staff at the hotel were fantastic and couldn't do enough for you the rooms were fine for our two night stay they were comfortable, warm, and we had plenty of hot water after our... This place is really quite tricky to review with many different aspects some good some not so good. We stayed for just one night on a Groupon at a cost £44 bed and breakfast. On the plus side I can't recall being so welcomed anywhere, throughout the stay all the staff were very friendly, helpful and nothing seemed to be... More

Booked as a little treat for my wife through Groupon, we stayed the night before Valentine's. Told to arrive at 2pm for check in, we found an empty reception. A couple of progessively louder rings on the reception bell eventually roused the receptionist who handed me a blunt pencil to write down our details(telling me just to fill in the... More
