We chose this hotel as we were looking for somewhere quiet and comfortable to stay near to the Yorkshire Air Museum which we were visiting this weekend, and it did not disappoint. Our room was spacious, comfortable and warm with nice crisp white bedlinen and thick towels. Our host Bob, was discreet and unobtrusive, but well informed on the local... More

Well, sooner or later it had to happen, my first mostly negative review. Old Rectory was the last of a string of country Bed & Breakfasts we stay during a driving tour of England, Scotland and Ireland. It was also the most expensive of all, so our expectations were high after so many wonderful Inns before this one. We were... More

Beautiful house and grounds with spacious rooms. Very loud extract fans in bathrooms. Partition wall between ours and single room next door, coupled with next doors need to use toilet and fan at 3 hourly intervals during night made for 2 nights very distrurbed sleep. The breakfast was quite frugal. and we asked if we wanted our room seviced. We... More

Very welcome accommodation after a long and arduous 75 miles fighting headwinds, on the bikes. My two friends and I shared a very spacious room with crisp white bed linen and extremely comfortable beds. We had a superb meal in the St Vincent's pub down the road which had been recommended to us by the owner. Breakfast was delicious too.... More

We booked this accommodation for a long weekend break to York and wanted somewhere not quite in the centre. On arrival, our hosts, Angela and Bob were warm and welcoming. The room and ensuite were spotless, spacious and totally relaxing with the bedroom having great views over the countryside and a comfortable little seating area with tea and coffee making... More

Booked a double room however as we arrived the lady explained to us that we were the only people booked it that evening, She insisted on us giving her a time we would be down for breakfast even though there was a 2 hour time frame. We stated that we would let her know later that evening however she was... More

What a charming place to stay! I stayed in one of the standard rooms (£58p.n) and it was large, beautifully decorated with lovely, interesting details. The guest lounge and dinning room were equally lovely - unfortunately as I was up in York for a wedding I didn't get to spend as much time enjoying The Old Rectory, as I would... More

I would normally check Trip Advisor before booking anything and on this occasion, I didn't. This hotel is lovely. The gentleman who received us was friendly and welcoming. The room was immaculate. The bathroom was spotless. There is a pub across the road which we went to for dinner - the food was amazing. Breakfast was lovely and again the... More

Sorry to be the dissenting voice, but I did not think that this Hotel came up to the mark. Staff a little "cold" and unwelcoming: we had driven 200 miles and would have really welcomed some tea and snacks made and served for us. Instead we were ushered into our room where admittedly there were tea and coffee making facilities.... More

What a lovely, peaceful, clean and elegant place! An old rectory building that has recently been very tastefully redecorated/restored... our spacious rooms made you want to just sit down and watch the trees change to fall colors... or maybe write a book. The area is also perfect for a long walk in the countryside or into the little neighboring town.... More
