Clean and well located, 5 min walk from downtown Canmore, a few rooms with 6 beds each and a bathroom per room, good privacy too with curtains around the beds. Spacious common kitchen and living room with good equipment.

I came to Canmore for work and expected to stay at the hostel for a little while while I found a place to live but almost 3 months in and I still haven't left. Some might find that strange, though there are people here that have been staying longer than I. Truth is it is just a fantastic place, the... More

I stayed at the Hostel Bear for a few nights while I found myself a room to rent in Canmore. I found the place to be a very well organised, clean and friendly place to stay. Great to see lockers in the rooms so you can lock you stuff up if you are out for the day (you'll need your... More

I came down to Canmore from Edmonton to go to the folk festival and stay at The Hostel Bear for only one night and truly wish it was longer. I was a solo traveler that happened to have a little bit to much fun at the Folk festival that was going on and when I finally arrived back to the... More

What a great place. It was our first hostel experience and our family thoroughly enjoyed it. The guests during our stay were an international mix of 30+ers. The food being prepared in the communal kitchen smelled amazing and the conversation was lively. When I booked the room, I failed to check the map... The railway runs right behind the building.... Banff and Canmore and expensive places and this is a place to park yourself if you are looking for cheaper options. We opted for a private room and they have two sets of bunk beds: so four people can stay there. Lockers are provided for each of the beds and the rooms and the bathrooms were very clean. The best... The hostel seems to have just recently changed management and is kept very clean, infact the staff always seem to be cleaning (sometimes there seems to be no staff around due to their cleaning duties). Rooms are comfortable and very well equipped with lockers and ensuite bathroom in even the largest of dorm rooms. Kitchen & common areas are very... More

Me and my girlfriend came to this hostel from Australia, we found it through hostelbookers.com and once we arrived we were very surprised at how amazing it truly was. The pictures are slightly misleading as the layout of the common areas have been changed but it is still very nice and functional. We both enjoyed our stay very much and... More

I first booked my stay here because of the price, but when I arrived I was shocked at how nice it was. It is literally a newer hotel that was completely redesigned into a hostel. The staff were pretty cool, always attentive and kind. The place itself is massive for a hostel. The kitchen and dining room is huge and... More

I stayed at this hostel in Jan and there were some strange people living there. One guy kept ogling me and tried to walk into me with his shirt unbuttoned all the way down his chest. I was yelled at by a staff member that I should tolerate these people. Was told by another staff member that some female guests... More

Hello, Firstly let me say thank you for the review, although it is a bad review I am pleased to have seen this as I have recently taken over The Hostel Bear and we are pleased to announce that things have changed around drastically in regards to staffing and guests. The hostel is a very safe and fun place to... More
