I probably have been at L'Oustau de Baumaniere about 5 times and the last two times I felt the Hotel going down unfortunatelly because Les Baux en Provence is an amazing place to visit and stay overnight visiting the area around it and St. Remy another small village. This hotel is probably still the best there but it is not... More

My family and I reserved rooms at L'Oustau de Baumaniere through a travel agent. We were shown photos of the main hotel building, with no mention of other properties. When we arrived, we were told we were booked at the Manoir property, which is 2 miles away. We drove there to find that our room was basically located in a... More

Before going into the review you need to understand that the hotel is divided into three different properties spread over about a mile. If you are not in the main building you are a car ride away from the faciltities-pool, dinning, etc. The hotel reserves the right to place any guest in any property regardless of the price you are... While the hotel is very nice and the location for a trip to Les Baux very convenient, our dining experience was the worst in our three trips to France, and the only time we felt snubbed for being American. Waiters would eagerly and quickly wait on nearby tables (occupied by French people), our service was incredibly slow depsite spedning over... More

Three hours away from Paris (byTGV), and half an hour from Marseille Airport, from Avignon, from Arles, from the Camargue, from the sea..., this enchanting hotel, luxury spa and restaurant of the highest quality is both perfect for a long holiday, for a sabbatical to write a book, but also for a long weekend. You immediately change your priorities in... More

This is an extraordinary place in an extraordinary setting with a wonderful restaurant (Michelin **). Unfortunately we only spent one night at this beautiful hotel/restaurant. Our room had all of the amenities as you would expect, the staff was exceedingly cordial, polite and helpful. The grounds are beautiful. We had dinner at the restaurant, which was absolutely lovely. Everything was... More

This property is located just below Les Baux in an extraordinary setting within Les Alpilles (Provence, France). We stayed in a very comfortable and elegant junior suite. The service is very stylish, and hyper-professional. Beautiful swimming pool surrounded by refreshing trees. The luxury restaurant serves very refined French food with a touch of mediterranean flavor.

We had heard of the French gastronomic shrine, the Oustau de Baumanière, and we knew that its setting was a five hundred-year-old olive mill nestling below gnarled rocks on the windswept plateau that is Les Baux de Provence. And so we travelled to the old village and to see the ‘Val d’Enfer’ that reputedly inspired Dante’s ‘Inferno’, the ‘Cathedral of... More

Pros (1) Excellent location within walking distance of the town and ruined castle (2) Good restaurant in wonderful outdoor setting beneth the stars. A treat to eat there. (3) Kid's meal made to order. Waiter cut up food for kid: kid loved it (rather too much I reckon) (4) Stayed in unusual room in main building near the restaurant: great... More

We had dined here at least three times in years gone by and were sad to discover that standards have really fallen. Some of the dishes were excellent, but some were just average. We have never returned a bottle of wine before, but we were served two bottles of the same badly oxydized wine, the second returned with difficulty. Service... More
