We didn't stay here as we had rented a cottage in Topsham but were walking past when we saw a sign for a " special". Bacon sandwich and a coffee for £3. We chose to have the sandwich made with granary bread and I can honestly say it was the best bacon sandwich I have ever had. The friendly waitress... More

We so want to be kind about this place as we do prefer places with character but honestly it's like going into a 70's time warp. The initial impression is of a very dark gloomy hall with ( at 6pm ) a pervasive smell of tired kitchen fat wafting up what could be a lovely staircase. Add low watt lightbulbs,... More

We recently stayed on our tour of Devon. We had two rooms, both of which were very comfortable and good value. Broadway House is a characterful place to stay, very different from modern B&Bs. One needs to be prepared for something different. Everyone enjoyed it's nice eccentricity enormously and we were lucky to stay a second time at short notice... More

Big room, old but clean, WiFi quite location-sensitive on the top floor. Two nights. Like staying at an aunt's house. Tea room which operates most days generates cooking odours - nothing bad but certainly present in the foyer. I agree with the other writers - the 'being met with an offer of tea in the room" immediately upon arrival was... More

We stayed at Broadway House for two nights in order to attend a wedding. The couple were very welcoming and we had tea brought up to the room. It was excellent strong "Devonshire" tea and we can see why the tea room is award winning. We were in room 8 which is big yet cosy with genuine shutters and sash... More

We loved it, a beautiful georgian house, not done up and with real character. It's not a modern cosy place but it is a wonderful experience. The room was enormous and the people running it were fantastic. We were met with "would you like a cup of tea" and a pot was brought up to our room, the first time... More

We found this B&B very gloomy and depressing. Decor was shabby and furniture uncomfortable. Lots of traffic noise outside our bedroom. We arrived on a Sunday and were not allowed to book in until after 5.00 p.m. Breakfast was poor and you are NOT allowed to put the teapot on the tablecloth! We had booked for two nights but gave... Very affordable, spacious, well-lit, clean rooms (en-suite). A lovely place in the center of a lovely town and minutes away by train from larger cities. Beautiful scenery, old untamed England, with a good pub just beyond the estuary. Good place for some antiquing and old books. Loved it and would stay here again.

This is the best B&B I have ever stayed in. Broadway House is a large Georgian house in Topsham, very close to Exeter. From first contacting Gerald Knee by e mail, I knew I had found a gem ! Gerald is polite, efficient and totally professional. Broadway House is just beautiful, if you like period buildings, this is for you.... More

Set on the edge of the main road in Topsham some short walk from the railway station with half hourly trains into Exeter or Exmouth this Georgian House was a really good find! A warm welcome with a tray of tea was waiting for me and although I had only made an hours journey it was good to be able... More
