We booked a weekend in Plymouth and scoured the web for a cheap deal. The Quality Hotel came up at a reasonable price and the information on it quoted a sea view which I wasn't getting my hopes up on being that fantastic. The building was a little tired and when reading the reviews for it, some people wasn't bothered... More

Exterior of hotel looks terrible, looks like it suffers from "concrete cancer", but views from sea view rooms is excellent out across bay. Watch ferries and navy coming and going. Stayed 13/5/12 on sixth floor room had been recently redecorated, some old furniture but windows replaced and walls painted. Breakfast average. Must admit when in Plymouth we usually stay here... The only redeeming feature of this hotel is the stunning panoramic view from the majority of the bedroom windows! The hotel is tired and quite frankly "ghastly" - our room was beyond tired with its peeling wallpaper and threadbare carpeting - and quite frankly the bathroom needs condeming and re fitting from scratch. Breakfast was barely adequate, again the only... More

Great location for city centre the Barbican and Hoe,room large room yes decor a little tired needs a lick of paint. Depends on how much you pay. I have stayed in far worst hotels for a lot more money. If you don't have breakfast inluded nearby there are a couple of good waterfront cafes with good coffee at a reasonable... More

A wonderful view from my bedroom window and from the Hotel restaurant. Comfortable clean bedoom and a fairly decent breakfast which included a fruit tea option. The decor could/should have been seen to - a coat of paint would work wonders. This hotel is rather difficult to find at night which is not amusing when you are a lone female... More

Stayed here on 31st March! Booked for a night out with the lads, 100% enjoyed staying here. Clean and tidy, staff were very helpfull and the bar was nice with a cracking club sandwich washed down with a few before going into the city. Took about 10mins to walk into the center of Plymouth City (Union Street with all the pubs... More

We live in plymouth but decided to spend the night of Wills and Kates wedding away from home as we have very noisy neighbours and they were have a party. I cannot believe it was the place i used to work in, in the 70s....in actual fact it looked better then than it does now! The rooms were a disgrace,... More

Wall paper peeling from the walls in the bedroom, hairs in the bathroom! Lovely views though, its a shame the hotel could be so much more if they spent some money on it. Ideal location for the town just a shame it was so dirty

So, my first trip to Plymouth for nearly 30 years, thought I'd go back and revisit some of my local haunts from my student days at Plymouth Polytechnic in the early 1980's. Booked to stay at the Quality Hotel ( still known to me as The Moat House!). The hotel is still an imposing structure on the Hoe. Fair enough,... More
