What a find! After reading reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to make a two night stay here after travelling from Australia. Needless to say we were knackered, but on arrival we got our parking permit, a warm welcome & an upgrade to the fisherman's cottage at the back. We were delighted. The hotel is in a lovely, quiet &... More

choose the hotel from internet. Very pleased with our one night stay. (Sunday May 14th). Staff extremely friendly, helpful and eager to please. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Most confortable hotel bed we had ever slept in! Dinner was exceptional and the free bottle of wine an added bonus. Breakfast was equally as good. The location was... More

Lovely hotel, good service, excellent food. Rye is a pretty town with a good selection of shops and lots of attractions nearby. Like to think we will return.

I chose this hotel partly due to the top reviews on tripadvisor and also due to the excellent DB&B tariff which included a bottle of house wine. I wanted a "nice" place to stay on 3rd May for my wife's birthday and booked the Jolly Sailor room, also taking the opportunity to pre-order flowers for our arrival. The welcome was... More

Arrived at mid-day for a 2 night stay. Had the last parking space in the limited street parking area. Bedroom up 2 flights of stairs would not recommend to persons of limited mobility. View was good as the hotel is located on top of a cliff with views of the river moorings. The best feature was the food, excellent quality,... More

For a short break in lousy weather this hotel was ultra-welcoming, with exceptional staff and very good food at good value prices. Tricky to find at first but great views (when it wasn't raining). All very friendly and helpful. Would go again. Rye is a charming town.

Stayed for a couple of nights in the Fisherman's cottage at the Hope Anchor Hotel. Good set up for family of 4 with a tiny cottage which has 1 bedroom upstairs, and a sitting room with two "chair beds" downstairs. Small but just big enough......though not helped by odd furniture choices (eg a huge TV corner unit that was just... More

Rye is delightful and the Hope Anchor was an excellent base. Quietly, but very centrally located, with great views across to Winchelsea. We could get everywhere we needed to get to within 5-10 minutes walk. Very friendly service. First rate breakfast. Clean, tidy rooms with every amenity you could want. It's an old, quirky building so the bedrooms were compact... More

The quaint little town of Rye is a really lovely place to visit in itself and our stay at the Hope Anchor hotel made it one of our favourite adventures so far. Staff were very welcoming even though we checked in late, and were happy to offer us some dinner even though the kitchen was closing for the evening. Our... More
