Went for a birthday meal annd overnight stay. Very well-appointed, an eye for detail, professional and friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere.

Had a weekend stay here just after xmas, with my husband. The rooms were very clean, good size, and the food very reasonable priced, all cooked to perfection. Staff very attentive as well. Lovely setting, quiet village. perfect for a short break.

The restaurant has very lively atmosphere. Menu is very varied and plenty of daily specials. Food is superb and service excellent. Tables are good size and not too close together. We were visiting area from Sweden and went with friends so could enjoy terrific meal and chat at same time. Wonderful experience”

Was here for a long weekend. Hotel s very nice and people very friendly. Room spacious, clean and cosy, nice bathroom. Only negative point the view (on the kitchen side) and a bit of noise from A12. Had food twice (very nice, not expensive), and dinner at closely Talbooth (excellent). Would definetily recommend for business, romantic weekend or getaway...

I stayed here recently on a business trip and had read the reviews regarding room 16 - I collected my keys - room 16!!! Give it a go .......... Just off the A12 between Colchester and Ipswich - not straightforward to find but quite well sign-posted. Rather dark dining rooms but no doubt brighter on the covered terrace. This is a genuinely lovely hotel,classic boutique layout. My room was very comfortable (room 4) and the bed was a decent size it was 2 singles pushed together but that didnt seem to bother me and I had 4 decent nights sleep.
